I would like to send a shout out to Wayne Edwards, a fine mens clothing store in Philadelphia. I had a few hours to kill after a court appearance this morning, and I decided to go to Wayne Edwards after reading in one of the hotel guidebooks that it carried Isaia and Cucinelli. To my surprise and delight, I spotted two rows of John Lobb shoes on my right as I entered the store. I'm an EG guy, but am always looking to expand my shoe horizons. The salesman, Anthony, was most accommodating to my desire to try on various models. (Among other things, I learned that I need to size down 1 1/2 sizes from my U.S. size to get the snug fit I like in Lobb.) He is passionate and knowledgeable about the shoes and we chatted for an hour. So nice to find a fellow connoisseur! In the end, despite the presence of two very desirable models in my size (Chapel in Parisian brown museum calf and Sutton in plum museum calf), I couldn't bring myself to make a $1,440 impulse purchase. If I ever scrape together enough pennies, I'd be happy to bring my business there.
