waxed cotton (or other materials)?

just reading up on the history of waxed cotton and am wondering if this is the kind of thing that's going to take on character over time (like beeswax desert boots) as creases form and abrasions occur. it looks almost like it may behave like leather as it ages. is this the case?

It doesn't age the same way leather might, but some patina can develop. Some nice vintage Belstaff and Barbour coats appear on ebay every now and again if you want to get an idea of what it looks like.

I have put off rewaxing my Barbour because the patina at present is beautiful. So yeah, it does age nicely, but I expect you are back to square one once you have your garment rewaxed.
