Waterproof shoes?

I moved to the east coast 3 years ago, and my first pair of non-boot winter shoes is finally starting to break down. I got them as a gift years back, and they're goofy looking Lands End waterproof shoes that have this funny lacing mechanism that's neither velcro nor zipper nor your traditional shoelace. It's like a lace that you pull up and secure with a little thing that slides down...if that makes sense (see picture)

Anyways, I love them dearly because they're very warm and guard my feet against the wet slush, but one of them has a nice little hole on the bottom, so I need new ones. I tried the Lands End site to no avail, apparently they don't carry them anymore, so after reading this forum anonymously for a while, I'm posting to see what you guys can come up with.

Bonus points if you can come up with something a little more fashionable looking than these. To give you an idea, brown oxfords are huge at my school. Not that I care about peer pressure (I've noticed that when I wear my black dress shoes out on a winter's dressy night, I slip a lot more than I do normally! Is that typical?) but you know, looking good is always nice.

Oh, and cheaper = preferred. I'm a college student...

Thanks in advance!

oh, em, like, have you tried the search function first?

Like, you know, that button up top that says "search"?

Shoot, lee_44106. I'm sorry. I swear I've used the "Search" countless times, and never posted because I usually could find what I wanted that way. But I searched for "waterproof shoes," "winter shoes," and all I got were discussions of winter boots and I don't want boots. I have nice North Face boots for blizzard days. I want waterproof shoes. One thread I found similar to mine: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...terproof+shoes. I was posting to see if anyone knew of someone making shoes like the ones I have now. The weird-lacing (is there a name for it?), warm ones that Land's End doesn't make anymore. I know it's lame to want to get a pair of shoes like the ones I have now, but I just thought I'd give it a shot. I should have made all that clearer in the first post. Not trying to waste anyone's time or bandwidth!

I think Salomon and The North Face make similar shoes.

Check out www.backcountry.com for more ideas.
