When it comes to wearing watches with suits, what is your preferred colour-combo on the watch? How should one match the metal of the watch case with the leather of the strap?

My own preference is for black leather straps on silver-coloured watches and brown leather staps on gold-coloured watches ... do you agree?

I generally prefer brown straps qith pretty much everything - different tinges from tan to cognac to dark brown, different hides from calf to alligator. I only wear black straps with (some) black dial watches - e.g. with my IWC pilot.

That said, if I'm wearing black shoes, I'll wear a black strap.

Of course I still have too many watches that have a bracelet...

This has been discussed before.

I didn't reply b/c I think the strap should match shoes and belt, and the case should match links, belt buckle, etc.

Some, including Manton, think this is too fussy. I think its important.

FWIW, I think whiskey colored leather is neutral and can be used with black or brown...

Agreed, the case color isn't always the determining factor. On my GP Vintage 45, the strap goes well with the rose gold numerals. So, the short answer is: it depends.
