To me that's a helluva lot of money! I'd be in shock if I spent near $1000!
But all things are relative, I guess.

I'm not one to offer much insight at that price level, but looks like a nice, understated watch to me. And it is manual wind which is the ultimate classic.

I think I agree with drizzt1117 about the strap, and normally I like leather straps. This one looks a little clunky, unlike the watch itself. Certainly at that price you'll have other choices, but if you like it- it's your money!

I like everything about it, except the size. If you have not tried a classic size Reverso before, you should do that before you buy this watch. It is a small watch.

JLC makes outstanding watches and if you like the style I'd say go for it.

gdl, does "Grande Taille" stand for the medium size reverso? Is yours self wind? How do you feel about self wind compared to quartz movement? Thanks.

The watch I like best is the link i posted above but its self wind and Im not sure i want the hassle. Theres one that very close to the one i like only with quartz movement.

Getting a quartz from JLC would be like getting a fully automatic transmission on your Ferrari.

Well not exactly, unless im confusing the definition of "Self Wind", you don't have to wind up your Ferrari every time before use.

Yes, GT is the medium size. Reverso sizes go like this: XGT > GT > Classic > Lady. I'm not sure what you mean by "self wind" - if you mean "automatic" movement (i.e. with a rotor that winds the watch by itself when the hand of the wearer moves), then no, mine is manual wind (i.e. I need to wind it every 36 hours or so or it stops).

The reverso you linked to is actually a manual wind movement. I personally don't consider manual wind movements a hassle at all, but rather a blessing. It brings me closer to my watch - I love winding my watches and would prefer to have only manual wind. Unfortunately some watches I really like only come in automatic (IWC big Pilot or GO Panomaticlunar) so I have to "settle" for these. I would not be caught dead with a quartz watch though, I'd rather get the time from my cell phone than from a quartz watch.

The analogy is: what's the point of buying a watch from one of the best mechanical movement manufacture on the planet if you're not going to have one of these great movements in it? A quartz movement in a Swiss manufacture watch is renouncing what makes that manufacture so great
