I'm after a decent quality full leather watch strap in red. Any suggestions? I bought a HIRSH one recently and it was just s**t . I suspect the top coating was made of plastic, not leather. It split at the stress point, where I closed the buckle, and the edges rubbed black. The jewellers refunded my money (£20). They told me "they usually last a year". Quality? I think not. Don't know the name of the model, but looked a bit like the pic, but without the bevelled edge. I'm basically after one piece of leather, or two pieces stictched together, no top coat or finish.

The only leather straps I've tried are alligators from lone star watches. They are very nice and similar to the OEMs that come with the luxury brands.

Also, I've had a couple from HK Tan.

I´ve had good luck with replacment straps through "Walt" on the B&S forum at Timezone. He stocks various brands.

There are two levels of Hirsch, the higher quality artisanal, and the lesser ones. Even with two pieces of level stitched together, that design technique itself does not guarantee a higher quality.

The other brands suggested are good options too.

Walt is a good fellow to deal with.

I've bought quite a few Hirsch Artisanal crocodile and alligator straps from the eBay and Blujay seller Rustwatch. The quality is very high, comparable to the custom straps I used to have made by Flemings, but at a fraction of the cost. The bands have held up very well, lasting a year or more, and Mr. Rust's prices and service are outstanding.
