A very formal watch and probably not suitable for everyday work unless you wear a suit. I find Baume & Mercier to be a bit pretentious. I'd recommend some of the modern automatic Hamiltons which are reasonably priced (<$500). Alan Furman in DC has a good selection. Personally, I like the look of vintage watches. The only problem is, like w/ women, they require high maintenance!

That watch at that price is way past the point of diminishing returns. Especially for quartz.

I have a Raymond Weil that is quite similar in design to this B&M. I've had it about 10 years and been very happy with it. From their current range, this one is the closest in design to mine. http://www.raymond-weil.ch/Modules/S...Id=MzQy&Page=1 I'm not up on current prices, but I'd be surprised if you couldn't do better than the price on the B&M.

I have a Baume & Mercier like that and it has been a great watch.

Try some online vendors like www.overstock.com and others-I've seen B&M discounted a lot.
