that will get you a lot of watch. The Rolex Daytona is what I chose. The panerai 190 is gorgeous too, probably the best panerai has offered. AP has sone good picks on the lower end. But if you look hard enough, you could probably find a Patek nautilus for close to 10. Thats one hell of a watch.

What kind of watch? This is such an open-ended question.

I'd like one that could be either but perhaps leaning more towards dress than sport.

That's an awkward price point. You're just on the cusp of truly high-end watch, but are still floating in really nice Rolex territory (not that there's anything wrong with that). You might want to save up another 5K and go PP or AP.

You can get a used Lange dress watch or Patek 3919 for $10,000. That's what I would get.

If these are "too dressy" for you, I like the Girard Perregaux 1945 or 1966, which you can also get for around $10,000 (and in gold too, unlike many of the others being suggested by others).

Glashutte Original, Sports Evo Big Date on a GO bracelet...... My favorite watch, the bracelet is amazing. Classic, smart and highly regarded among those in the know....

Come to think of it, all the GOs are fantastic....
