Wempe and Cellini are the best selection and highest service. tourneau is just a tourist trap with high pressure sales tactics. Avoid at all costs.

There are a few good grey market dealers in NYC. They sell the overstock from Wempe and Cellini (with box and stamped papers) b/c you gotta pay the bills. But, you can get ALange for cheaper than list and even cheaper than the 15% off they will quote you if you really want to.

Also, you can potentially avoid sales tax by having a box shipped to your home address (which is questionable), or even the watch itself shipped (which is totally legit).

They weren't interested in allowing me to try on the watches I wanted to see, even though I was wearing the same brand at the time and in the market for another.

I've purchased from Cellini and been very pleased with their service and after-sale service. They also gave me a good price on the watch. Additionally I have purchased vintage watches over the years from Aaron Faber http://www.aaronfaber.com/
and can't say enough good things about him.

Check out Central Watch located in the 45th street underground passageway, accessed near track #38 on the main level of Grand Central Station. This family owned watch repair and sales kiosk has been in business as long as I've been in NYC (1975) and probably a lot longer. Great selection of new and vintage watches in all price ranges. I've bought many watches there over the years. Avoid lunch time when there usually is a long line of customers dropping off and picking up repairs.

About 10yrs ago I went looking to buy an Omega Seamaster Automatic. Eventually bought it from the Tourneau on 34th St because they offered me the lowest price, approx 35% discount off list, even when compared to other Tourneau stores and they threw in a nice pen. The Tourneau stores do get a lot of foot traffic so that's probably why the service can be so-so and sometimes rude.

There is a place near Rock Ctr that has a nice set of pre-owned. I will get the name for you....

Aaron Faber, mentioned above.

Very expensive for used watches IMO, but some people put a lot of value on the upscale brick & mortar setting.

Omegas dont hold market value vs. msrp ratio like rolexes.
35% sounds about right from tourneau or any other authorized dealer.

i dont like tourneau because the sales staff do not have watch-geek backgrounds as i think most of them mainly specialize in selling... so if you ask them any in depth questions, they will give you the

its like if you are a car enthusiast and you go to the dealer and the salesman speaks car language to you and shares the same passion for cars, then obviously its a much better experience...
