Me too man I'm thinking about Alt app perfect fit mediums. Where are you measuring your chest? American apparel smalls are too tight around the chest and too short. I'm assuming the mediums will be too big. The only aa shirts that fit great or the tri-blend ones.

Helmut Lang (Small/Medium): they go to **** after a few washes though.. the color fades but they hold their shape fairly well

3.1 Phillip Lim (Medium): flattering cut, but their shirts are kind of thin

NSF (Medium): their sizing varies so much between every style/season but they are really good for the money once you find them at >70% off (revolve and barney's marks them down past 75% off)

A baby ribbed t-shirt is your solution. Extremely tapered and no billowing or loose fabric at the waist. Fabric is thicker and slightly reminiscent of an expensive Wings+Horns tee shirt. After wearing these I cannot go back to wearing the normal AA or Alternative Apparel t-shirts because they feel like bags.

I have a 35 to 36 chest and the size S fits me perfectly. Since the shirt is more fitted than the normal AA tees, I would guess M would fit a 36/37 chest well.

Available for only $7 each from several resellers.

I am going to exhume this thread for a moment just to say that I have tried the AA 4400 in size M, and it's wonderful. I shrunk it once, and there might be more shrinkage to follow, but so far things are going well.

The fabric doesn't dig into my armpits like a size S 2001, and the shoulder seams actually line up with my real shoulders. And the sleeves are wonderfully narrow.

It did take a while for me to warm up to the fabric, since it's not as smooth or light as what the 2001 has. The 4400 is also a tad too long, but since the body is so narrow, it stacks a bit to compensate.

So, for now, I approve.

BR smalls are decent but AA Mediums fit me perfectly, after a few washes. My chest is 38" though.

Has anyone tried the American Apparel "Girly" tees? The measurements seem to be slimmer than the unisex/male ones.

For example, a Large Girly shirt has a 36-38" chest and 30-32" waist, whereas a Medium Unisex has a 38-40" chest and a 32-33" waist. I'm not that close to an American Apparel so I can't try one on.

Trendyblanks accidentally shipped me one of these. I had ordered one of each variety of AA shirt in M and S to see if there were any worthy of a bulk purchase -- this girly one was included as extra, and fit me much better than all the rest. Funny, I'm wearing it right now, out of a rotation of way too many t-shirts. But before I had a chance to order more, I discovered Hanes comfortsoft and never looked back at buying AA.

I have an NSF v-neck t that i like alot. Its a small and its kinda roomy in the chest on me, but i have about a 34.5 in chest.
I measured it at 18.5 pit to pit, so it would probably be good for a smedium.

My favorite basic t-shirt is by Acne. The model is the Brute v-neck. its a pretty slim (about 17.5 across the chest on a small) and very flattering cut. i think a medium in it would work for a smedium. If were easier to find and weren't so expensive i would probably get one in every color.
I tried the crewneck version, but it didnt fit the same at all (considerably smaller, pretty much skin tight) and the neck-opening was too high.

Yeah, I made the mistake of buying an Acne brute shirt in size small. The other Acne shirts, at least according to Oak, fit true to size. But the Brute seems geared to a tighter leave-nothing-to-the-imagination fit that hardly works for skinny squirts like me. Fabric was delightful though.

Yoko D, peace be upon them, cut a great t whose fabric was a noticeable step up from the AA variety. Size small was basically smedium. Too bad they couldn't let go of their graphic tees-- my plain black "shoulder button tee" is sweet.

The one v-neck I own from B Son is probably my favorite tee ever, which is why I prefer to leave it in the drawer and idolize it rather than use it for its intended purpose. It's a slouchily cut size small, which after one wash leaves just the right amount of drape to flatter my frame. And the 50% modal fabric has sent me on a rabid hunt for everything made of modal. It's sick.

i have an aa tri-blend crewneck that i got a few years ago that fits me really well but its starting to wear out. I bought some new ones recently but they dont fit or feel the same... longer arms, higher neck hole, and the material seems a little different, i was pretty disappointed.
I wish they made the tri-blend in a regular v neck, not the stupid deep v.
