There are several racks of Barney's and Louis of Boston which are still crammed with shirts but again, depending on size, they have been picked through somewhat. On the second floor walk in and then go to the left. Still worth the trip though.

I went to the FB on Conn. Avenue on Friday. I received via email on Friday morning a 20 percent off coupon. The designer stuff was already 40 percent off, and you could add the 20 percent coupon on top of that, which I didn't realize all that clearly when I set out. Often the stores prevent you from adding the coupons together. I ended up with a Borrelli shirt for $50. The guy in front of me bought six Borrellis. I also didn't realize that you could bring in as many 20 percent coupons as you wanted and get the discounts.

So I went back with the wife on Saturday, and not surprisingly, the Borrellis were all but cleaned out at Conn. Ave., National Press Club, and Friendship Heights. However, I did end with a pair of Barney's Italian flannel charcoal pants that retailed for $225. With the discounts, I paid $25. I put back a Lora Piano pink button down shirt and a Barney's Italian cashmere sweater. So there's still stuff to be had or at least there was yesterday afternoon. I think they may still be putting some new stuff out.

Anyway a couple of unusual things that bear mentioning. At the FB National Press club you have to look hard for the two racks with the 40 off designer stuff. It's toward the back and not very prominent. However, they have a Dries van Noten 44R suit in pencil striped flannel that might be of interest to someone. Retail $1525, with discounts, $240. I agonized a bit over that one; it's a bit heavy. At FB Conn. Avenue they have a Bruno Cuccinelli Italian cashmere sweater in a lime. Retail $850, with discounts, $75. This was a gorgeous piece of clothing, and I would have bought it in a second were it not a size 2XL. But it's still there for someone who can wear that size.

Can you forward the coupon if I PM you my email, or has it expired?

Thanks. We went today before I heard back--no biggie.

Let's see...at Loehmann's I got a tie and I found a nice Ike Behar shirt. The surprised me--they have so little there.

At FB I found a bow tie, a pair of Nautica pants (faux seersucker) but skipped the matching jacket, a HSM dress shirt, and a pocket square. The PS was undoubtedly one that everyone has skipped over a million times--pink with little cherries on it. Hah!

Nothing else to speak of. I hadn't been in that FB before and found the selection alright. Not great, but not bad.

I really need a cotton/linen/whatever summer suit so will probably be back week after week. I have one seersucker and recently bought a very lightweight Prince of Wales grey plaid, but would like something cotton.

Yep, just got back from Sky Valet. It's actually 3 for 1, but only on the Edward Greens.

any idea when the half yearly NM or saks sale is? It's usually in July but I have not seen/heard anything about it.

These sales have both been going on for about two weeks - I think NM is doing a further markdown later this week or this weekend, I'm not sure about Saks.

I've experienced just the opposite at this NM, and I have been shopping the men's suit department there since 1993. First Call was well underway when I checked it out about 2 weeks ago and I found a chocolate brown, double vent Armani suit. I picked it up from alterations this past weekend when I saw a Kiton blazer which my salesman offered to hold for me until Last Call.

Wow you got lucky... they are definitely not supposed to do this. I just hope it wasn't a 42.
