*sigh* I've been feeling old lately. Thoughts of cocaine and lithe young nipples does not help.

Weird. I always figured figured that loathing disco had lots to do with hating ****** music.

From the descriptions here, it sounds like the disco era was a hell of a lot of fun (I'm far, far too young to have lived through it), but the whole scene was set to one of the worst sountracks in the history of popular music.

I was a snorter, but several in my circle were burning rocks during the disco era.

A couple of them actually lived.
My generation seems to have lost a lot of members to over-indulgence and a general lack of discretion.

Real pacesetters. First I heard of "Free Basing" was when Richard Pryor had his "incident". I did my share of snorting in the early 1970s, but coke was most certainly known as a luxury drug. A reasonably priced manna from Heaven Disco drug was Rorer 714s! About 1971 I worked for an employer who provided some cocaine. But that was sporadic and I'm glad I never got into daily use. One of my Brooklyn GFs had a tiny scene in Saturday Night Fever with Travolta in a Brooklyn disco. If it is on Youtube, I will post it.

John Travolta was so awesome, even up to the mid-'90s. What the hell happened? I blame Scientology.

Also: Were the Bee Gees really a disco band, or were they just top-notch songwriters whose songs just happend to have a disco beat under them?
