Just got a jacket back from the Tailor Shop on LaSalle in the Loop. Great job on measuring out the changes and performing the changes (bringing in the waist and shortening sleeves). I haven’t tried any others, and it seems like all the tailoring shops I checked with have roughly the same prices... That said, I’m happy enough that I’ll return when needed.

Bottom line: delivered on time, well done tailoring.

Tailor's Touch on Oak Street is my go-to for tailoring work.

I used to use Maria on state street (Golden Needle) but her business, I’m afraid, was a victim of Covid. She did a lot of wedding and bridesmaid dress work and well, you can only guess how that went.

I posted a similar thread not too long ago and was recommended to Oak Street Tailors. I’ve since used Nick about 4 times and he’s great. Mostly slacks but the guy knows what he’s doing.

there’s Paul Stuart.
Otherwise, there are a number of independent tailors like Despos on oak street and Nicholas Joseph on Grand and Franklin. I don’t have first hand experience with the latter two.

I've been looking for Despos phone number although have not come across anything. I wasn't aware Paul Stuart also did tailoring but will def look into them. I know we have a plethora of tailors here but im trying to figure out which one is worth while and not inflated in price (ala tom james company).

Thanks for the tip buddy

I stopped by there today at 5. Oak Street Tailors is open until 6, but I think Nick only works from 9:30 to 4. I think it’s also a cash only business. It going to be difficult to visit this one regularly for me. Probably will come back with more difficult pieces.

Any other suggestions SF community? Near north or near west suggestions would be ideal.

he’s definitely only cash. So was Maria. I think that’s how these guys roll.

I just call ahead to make sure of the amount and then hit the ATM before hand.

Paul Stuart has a pretty robust made to measure program. They also carry a more traditional black tie ensemble.

I don’t know if they still do bespoke. They used to and I believe they used Oxxford but that was pre-Covid.
