I once passed up a pair of AEs in that style for $4 in great shape in my size becuase I thought they were one of the ugliest designs of shoes I had ever seen in person. My opinion has not changed.

nothing wrong with the ROI of Alden's plus if you are luky then you can get them in a one of the rarer shell colors - what wrong it that?

both the EG and G&G ones are fine but you cant better the origional IMO

Ugly and more than a little effeminate too. Horses for courses I suppose, life would be dull if we all looked the same, and if we didn't on occasion have the chance to inwardly chuckle at a complete stranger in the airport and think 'what the **** has he got on his feet?'

Brooks has the Alden version on clearance for $199 but something about the pics makes me think this is the reason for the stereotypical view of this style shoe. The EG version just looks more soph.
