I always put my wallet in my front fight pocket. Putting stuff in your back pockets is a great way for screwing up your back.

I was going to mention this but you beat me to it. I've had a bad back for a number of years, L5 to be exact. I use to carry a wallet in my back right pocket. I met with a therapist who through her interview with me asked me if I carried a wallet in my back pocket and I stated that I did. She explained that by doing this I was canting my spinal posture to a degree that would create alot of the pain I was experiencing at the time. Well, needless to say it really did work and I never carry a wallet in my back pocket.

Regardless of the back issue I find it so uncomfortable to sit on my wallet - I don't understand why people so it. That's what a jacket inside pocket is for.

If I wear a blazer, sure... otherwise I keep it in the back pocket. But now after reading drink's and LA's posts... I'll try to keep it in the front. My back is bad enough anyway.

I find it more comforting to know that my wallet is on me, rather than on an item that I take off and my inadvertently leave behind somewhere.

I put my wallet in my front pocket with dress pants, however usually in the rear because the front is reserved for my lip gloss, keys, cell phone, and sometimes a card holder.

I'm right handed and carry my Red Moon in my right pocket. Carrying it in the front to avoid potential back problems is probably a good idea, but I don't like putting bulky things in my front pockets because it makes my jeans bulge out - which looks weird.

I think anything large in the front pockets looks and feels weird. I have my keys in my front left, but I only have a few small keys on a simple ring.

I put my wallet in my right rear pocket, but the way it positions itself when I sit, I never actually sit on the wallet. Likewise, my cell phone goes in the left rear pocket, and I never sit on it either, and I almost always take that out when I sit, cause I hate having to get up to get at my phone if it rings.

I'm interested to see the breakdown of left vs. right handed people on this board. In my profession, even in a larger sample size, its surprising how many left handed people there are compared to the averages (from 1 in 11 to about 1 in 4).

front left -- id holder (very small, thin)
    front right -- keys
    back left -- cellphone
back right -- receipts, and usually around four $5 bills for minor stuff...

and I use coin pocket extensively when available (for coins, doh).

    I'm right handed.

My chiropractor is always giving me hell for keeping my wallet in my back pocket. I keep it pretty thin though so I think it's okay. Nothing like george's from seinfeld...
Seriously??? I've never heard that a wallet can cause back problems.

So what should one do when wearing jeans and a t-shirt?

No one said it would give you back problems but for those who already have exisiting back ailments, it would be problematic to correct seated posture.

I agree with the others about Chiropractors saying it's bad for back if you keep a wallet in your back pocket. See link for further info. Another level

how a big a wallet are you using?

    My scenario:

    front left"”cash
front right"”some times cell, usually not cause I don't want the fade
    back left"”wallet
    back right"”usually nothing
coin pocket"”duh, coins... sometimes house key

    back right--wallet
    front right--keys and change
    left side nothing usually

i do carry my messenger bag on my left side, which is counterintuitive (i'm right handed) but fits the above just fine for me

I keep mine in the right pocket. Being a chiropractic student I know to use an ultra-thin wallet, I barely know its on my pocket
