wall shelves / book shelves (16" deep)

any recs? Don't want to spend lots of money for furniture I won't keep long-term. I like these from dwr:

I'd prefer something cheaper (these are 1600 for 33" shelves), but may end up going with them because the shelves are just deep enough for my projector. Most bookshelves like this are only 9-11" deep. I need 16" min. I'm also open to a low bookshelf but that would mean I'd need a separate shelf for the projector. I think this sort of thing looks better.

been looking for something similar in a 12" depth for storing vinyl.

seriously considering going the DIY route with this option from Indie Furniture, http://www.indie-furniture.com/. they have shelving depth to 20" and the nice thing is that since you source your own wood, there's flexibility with the width and height of the shelving.

16" deep will limit many options.

Why not have shorter shelves and then add a longer slab of metal for the shelf w/ the projector?

I'm not sure I follow exactly what you mean... Are you suggesting buying a low bookshelf and using a totally separate shelf for the projector? Or are you suggesting using a less deep shelf system and then sitting the PJ on a slab of metal that's sitting on a shelf, effectively extending the depth of the shelf so that the projector juts out? The way I see it, there are 2 options. Option 1 is the dwr shelves, which provide just enough depth for the projector. This would provide the most discrete placement of the projector imo and I could probably run the cables up the back of the rails to keep it looking clean and the projector could be hidden among books. Option 2 is something like a low bookshelf unit. Then use a separate shelf for the projector. Is this what you mean? The problem i've had there is finding brackets for the shelf or a shelf itself that isn't really ugly. I've seen projector shelves for the wall that are just the size of the projector, but I feel like it would look unbalanced with the wider bookshelves below. Oh... I just thought of a third possible option. If I got a cheap verison of the shelves from a place like cb2, I might be able to mount a low-profile ceiling mount to the underside of the top shelf. The projector would stick out but it would be secure.... hmm... edit: Another option: http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=118&f=3885 I could get the desk version plus the shelf version for about $450 combined and possibly use the desk panel in place of the top shelf? Not sure about this since the desk version has some extra support extending. Not sure if i'd be able to use the 20" surface interchangeably with a smaller one... =/

this. While not necessarily ideal, you'd have far more shelving options available.
