Waitresses who bring you the bill with your pie when you didn't ask for the bill yet

A lot of times while I'm in a restaurant, the waitress brings me the bill along with my pie. However, I did not ask her for the bill with my pie. I want to be able to enjoy my pie in peace without feeling that I'm being rushed out or having to think about the bill at all at that time, which ruins my enjoyment of my pie. This seems to be a common practice.

Are waitresses doing a bad job by doing this?

Is it socially correct to tell them don't bring me my bill til my pie is done at the time when I order my pie? Them bringing me my bill with my pie is really starting to get annoying.

There are plenty of things in life to ponder. This is not one of them.

So what should I do about it? I think if I just tip them less they won't realize the reason I'm tipping them less is for this reason.

What is a stylish way for me to let them know that this is unacceptable?

It is Swiss Chalet I'm talking about so I guess it's not an upscale restaurant, but I still do not want to be treated this way in there.

I like getting the bill as soon as possible and without asking. In fact, I'd like to pay ahead of time. I'm not trying to be contrary Mary here. This is truly how I feel.

I generally use my endowments to pay the waitress, if you get my drift.

Where I come from, it's extremely rude. But in the US, from what I understand, it is often considered a sign of good service if/when the waiter brings you the check without you asking for it (a bit like refilling your glass of water without you asking for it).

If I'm eating on my own or in an obviously casual place (ex. Diner), then I actually prefer this.

If it's a date or a big occassion, then no thanks.

Either way, it's better than most of my experiences in Austria and France, where getting the check out of your perpetually disinterested waiter is damn near impossible.

I live in Canada, not the US.

That's another thing too...out of 4 locations I've ate at in the past few months, only one location had a waitress who filled my glass again without me asking. And that was also the only location that gave me a new cherry and lemon slice every time on my shirley temple refills. The other ones just gave me a refill without a new cherry or a new lemon slice. I was gonna make another thread about that too but since it's already brought up in here...what is a stylish way to tell them to stop jipping me on my cherries and lemon slices in my refills? They charge me $2.59 plus tax for unlimited refills so I kinda don't wanna push too hard for the cherries and lemon slices if they are gonna charge me $2.59 again each time I get a refill...but on the other hand, I still want all my cherries and lemon slices each time.

My advice is to quit worrying about everything. Try to enjoy life for what it is and don't get so caught up in trying to force everything to fit your notions of correct and stylish.
