Hi all,
I recently got a custom 3-piece suit. I would say it's half way between a MTM and bespoke suit - I was measured in person and had my own pattern created, but it was a traveling tailor who measured me and he did not make the suit himself. I purchased two waistcoats with the suit - one SB (no lapels) and one DB (with peak lapels). The topic today is about the waistcoat fit while sitting down.
I've noticed that while sitting down, the waistcoat bunches around the chest area. I've gone to a tailor and they tightened the sides and moved the buttons more to the right (for the DB), but there is still a lot of bunching and space while sitting down. While standing, it looks fine. The tailor said this bunching while seated is normal and that without getting a fully bespoke suit, this is the best fit/result I can achieve with a waistcoat. Would love to get the expertise and experience of the forum on the following:
1. Is the best fit I can achieve while sitting down with a MTM/custom suit? If not, any advice on how to make it fit better other than having a new vest made?
2. If anyone has pictures of themselves in a waistcoast sitting down and there is no bunching at the chest area, could you please share?
Below is a picture of what I'm talking about (just The DB). This is after sitting down for some time and the back of the waistcoat has slid up. If I pull the backside back down, it looks better, but there is still visible bunching / space between the breast of the waistcoat and my chest. I've also included a picture of the waistcoat while standing.
Thanks in advance!
