Waistband alteration on jeans?

I searched and found a few previous threads on this already.

Here's my situation -

I have a pair of jeans that fit great in the hips, thigh, rear, basically everywhere. The only issue is that the waistband in the back above my butt sort of bows outward.
There's not enough slack to make the jeans droop or sag overall. They stay up fine but if I were to wear a belt the slack is going to get bunched up under there. If I go a size down they will not at all.

So I guess my question is - can this be fixed?

Thanks for your help!
