I don't have the grizzly mocs, but used to own many Alden Indy 403 and 405s, in those circles I recall some wearers getting a white surface layer that could be attributed to the fat oils surfacing to the top of the leather as a result of wearing. Solution was to buff it out to work it back into the leather. Is it possible it's that?

Wipe them with white vinegar. Mix 1 part water and 1 part white vinegar. Use a cloth and wipe it on the outside and inside. The smell of vinegar will disappear dont worry. It will make the leather inhabitable for mold to grow. Works for mine!
How about that hahaha I will give it a try at some point, thanks !

Have any of you guys spot treated the N.D. finish cotton/nylon blend stuff (six-five, patterson, chamdo, etc.) curious how sensitive it is. Might just wait for a dry cleaner but figured I would ask. Thanks!
I recommend never spot cleaning the N.D. stuff. You'll end up with a faded spot where you cleaned. I made this mistake once. I was trying to get some sunscreen off of a crew neck. I rubbed too much and now I have a permanently faded 1 inch round spot right on the shoulder. Doesn't look great. I just wash the whole shirt on cold when it needs it.

Have you actually tried it on?
Yeah it's pretty nice. A bit thick for California weather though.

Probably because they're cracking down on resellers from trunk shows. If you order different sizes or multiples of an item the head office will cancel your order.

Do you mean a trunk show exclusive? I don't think so. There is a six-five and it might be FIL exclusive though. I didn't take a careful look at it but seemed pretty normal.
Many types of resellers as far as I can tell. Some know 3rd party stores and place order through them, it used to be the easiest way to just pay JP retail or slightly higher but as things are becoming harder and harder to get they charge quite a premium now. The other type of reseller usually knows like a ton of JP VIPs and say if the VIP doesn't want seward they can help "fulfill" an order of seward of their size. Though for higher demand items I think either way orders get cancelled a lot.

On the topic of the white substances, anyone buy a brand new pair of boots with the distressed leather (generally last few seasons) and noticed a white sheen on them out of the box?

Tried a size up on the ‘24 7 holes in khaki and the leather over the toe box has a bit of a white sheen to it…not unlike a glazed donut (first thing that came to mind).

Used or mud treated I could understand other factors contributing that may not be immediately apparent; just wanted to verify if it’s common/expected.

Artificial lighting makes it hard to truly show off, but:

Expected. Not sure if its wax, but some shoes get bloom that looks similar. If you're not too keen on it you can hit it with a blowdryer for a few seconds and see if it goes away. Paraboots share a similar haze that goes away with heat. Otherwise it might be part of the leather treatment process.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
