Can anyone tell if these are mud dyed kangaroo? Or just some kinda distressed finish? From AW19 but doesn’t match anything available on the webstore

View attachment 1229244

My preorder for these from Moda Operandi arrived and, contrary to Moda customer service’s claims, they are neither mud-dyed nor bison.

It’s a very stiff, burgundy calf or “cow” burnished with dark brown shoe cream/dye or something and doesn’t have the glossy sheen or nearly as much color variation as the product shots https://www.modaoperandi.com/visivm-fw19/virgil-leather-boots

Pretty disappointed but they’ll probably patinate very nicely as the burnishing wears off in high flex areas/scuffs etc.

They fit narrower than the AW17 elk suede Virgils but the length feels the same on first impression. Provided laces are very short / too short to wrap around the ankle.

I usually go off the buttons and irregularity / hand print look of the leather label. Based on those, they look good. Normally the buttons on the cheaper copies don't have the proper discoloration / dome shape, and the leather tag is usually void of any texture or irregularity in print on copies.
Thank you!

@MGoCrimson oh man that's too bad. i almost pulled a trigger too when u said they were mud dyes. i think they must be the same ones that canoe club has.

https://shopcanoeclub.com/products/...fyABTrB2gHi5W_SkHC8YBzclDK3Fdc9MaAiWdEALw_wcB

it was weird that i havent seen any mud dyes from other stores but bc they were pre-orders i thought they were custom orders from moda.

r u going to keep them?

Yea, I was hoping Moda had a custom order when I saw Virgils start rolling into other shops and they looked nothing like the moda product shots but they’re the same dark brown Virgils various stockists have.

Blue Owl has the most accurate representation of their appearance in bright sunlight — they otherwise present as a uniform dark brown.

I’m probably going to keep them as I’ve been after a darker brown Virgil for a while and who knows what will be made in the upcoming seasons.

The last couple iterations of suede had the non-crepe soles which I think have a much uglier profile. Hoping they keep the crepe soles for the upcoming release.

Looking to buy from 1290 Square Meters in Istanbul. Here’s their site:

Has anyone bought from them before? Are they legit/authentic?

I bought an Arcteryx Veilance Field Jacket from them in 2017. They are legit.

Same as the cow leather ones listed in this thread
