1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I just checked out the site -- www.virtualclotheshorse.com. The "clearance" section is a MUST SEE.. Gorgeous Isaia blazers for $325. Saint Andrews blazers for $299 (....). Lorenzini shirts for $49. Luciano Barbera shirts for $59. And on and on and on. The clearance section itself has hundreds of items. Then, if you want to drool alot more, check out the regular part of the site. Those prices are great too.

thanks for the plug, i didn't put Kabert up to it, honest. part of the frustrating thing is most of the items in the clearance are going to net me MAYBE an average of 5% after expenses and most are money losers, but i have people asking if i can discount a st andrews blazer another $100. i guess that's part of it, but i imagine bluefly doesn't get requests like that, or maybe i'm too nice in that i actually reply with a friendly "can't do that".

I know that I am being really, really pushy, but it would be great if the items could list the size(s) in the descriptions. For example, showing a jacket to be a 44R or pants to be 36" in the little descriptions would be so useful. Otherwsie, thanks for great stuff.

Actually, I really like how the website works -- how you just put your cursor over an item, without clicking on it, and up pops a little window telling you details about the item -- size, measurements, price, etc. The window goes away as you move your cursor away from that item to the next.

The site's speed seems much faster now than it did originally too.

No, Lance didn't put me up to this post. I actually was wondering why the 4 pairs of Lattanzi shoes he had on EBay were no longer listed there. I thought perhaps he might have stuff on his site rather than on Ebay. I discovered that only 2 of the Lattanzi's are left (including one in my size....). But I also discovered that he's got a veritable mountain of high-end stuff on the virtualclotheshorse site that isn't on Ebay....

If you like Filene's basement during a Barney's or Bergdorf's sale, you'll like Lance's site. It's that good.

Man I wish I were bigger.

Looks great, only thing that fits are pants, so I'm ordering those. Otherwise, I'd buy about half your clearance section.

Must be a browser issue. I use Mozilla and it does not do that on my computer. Oh well.

I like this one by Brunello Cucinelli, but I'm a 42L. Â The BC has shoulders at 18.5, 1.5 inches smaller than what I normally take. [IMG]

Thems is some broad shoulders you got there John.

I wear US size 46 suits/jackets, and the width I prefer is 19-20 inches (I've always thought 20 inches was about standard for 46, actually).

yes i paid my webguy to implement the cursor display thing whatever it's called. they moved it to a different server. i'm considering going w/ my own server, but the cost is a bit high. i started the webstore b/c ebay's fees are just killing me. there are some months where the fees are 2,000, whereas there are obviously no fees on the site, except CC and PP fees. big savings if you're willing to front the big cost of starting the whole thing. thanks guys.

Lance: FYI, I get no information just by running my cursor over an item in Netscape 7.2. Works with Internet Explorer 6.0, though.

I also love the goods, but there's just not much in my size.

Loads of 46L -- I know because that's my size too. The St. Andrews I zeroed in on (for $299) is 46L if I recall correctly. There's a very nice Etro reversible down vest in L and XL too -- check it out....

And now how about a trip where you come back with a load of 42 shorts? (And no, I don't mean slightly more than 40 pairs of Zimmerli closed fly boxers)

i'll try. actually about a year ago i got about 6 or 7 shorts and was excited b/c so many ask for shorts. they were basic black armani suits and i ended up selling the final few for under 300 i think. nobody wanted them.

Honest, Lance, I did my part to represent the 42S suit-buying populace a year ago when I got a taupe Belvest from you. Just had a hard time justifying buying more than one suit at the time. Maybe your frustrating experience selling your Armanis had more to do with the general feeling around here vis a vis black suits in general rather than the fickle buying habits of the height-challenged members of the forum

yes that belvest was a great suit, i just thought the basic black armani would sell fairly easily (not necessarily to you guys but to others, as i get at least 5 requests per week for "S" sizing).

physical sale, still thinking about it. it all depends on how much is sold by august when new stuff arrives. if a lot sells thru, then there's no points. i'm hoping to sell 350-400 pieces per month.
