Vintage wool overcoat PROJECT, advice/help needed

Hey everyone, I found one of my fathers old overcoats, its light grey wool. It obviously needs some tailoring and cleaning, but what else does this need? I am definitely also going to replace the buttons, I'm thinking about buttons on either black horn buttons or very dark tortoise shell buttons. What else can I do to this to make it look better/more modern?

Nothing wrong with it as is. Change the buttons if you want, but it's unnecessary.

Now, that shirt and tie pairing, on the other hand...

I think the current buttons look better than the black ones. Maybe the waist can be taken in a little, but the coat looks good as is.
