Hello gents,
I have recently decided to clean and restore one of my grandfather's watches that has been collecting dust in my parents' house for a few years. Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about watches and even less about what is involved with cleaning and/or restoring them.
I was hoping that I might get some advice, words of caution or insight from senior members that have a good deal of experience with vintage timepieces.
The watch itself is a bit of a mystery. I have never heard of or seen the brand and Google is of no help. However, it has a very nice alligator strap and is made of 24k gold, so it must be at least decent. Here's a picture in case anyone has any insight:
Any help or advice would be invaluable as I really hope to get the watch cleaned up so I can wear it. It means a lot to my family and me.
Thanks in advance!
