These Crown Windsors, top of the line for Bostonian, are from back in the day, when top-shelf Bostonians were every bit as good as Allen Edmonds. This pair is an excellent example. The black pebble grain leather is soft and supple, not at all plasticky as some cheaper pebble grain can be. The uppers are flawless, the soles super thick, the inner labels still bright--these shoes evidence very little wear. I am biased, of course, but these shoes are, I think, more substantial than anything AE currently offers--think vintage Florsheim Imperials, the kind with v-cleats and five nails. Properly cared for, these shoes will provides years of comfortable service. Trees not included.
