Just purchased this good-looking sportcoat from vintage store, after trying on about 15-20 vintage sportcoats with illustrious designer names down the streets, all with too much shoulder padding and typically too-wide lapels. This one fit perfectly but the one thing that bothers me is any labels with the identification of the designer or manufacturer are missing. Also no size. There's an "echo" of where a label was but that's it.
Does anyone have an idea? Does anyone recognize the pattern or even have a coat just like it? The Amalgamated Clothing label indicates it must be made in the U.S. but beyond that I'm stumped. Could it be from the '60s? '80s? I know there are websites that identify the period of a union label but I'd rather not go to the effort to search right now; does anyone have an accurate website or know offhand when this exact union label was used? The pocket flaps are a full 2 3/4", so what does that say as for year range? Jacket is two button, with three on each sleeve. Buttons look original but - again - no designer name.
