So the first 3 pictures are RB3 DGM and the bottom 2 are RB2 DGM.

That’s good, they are a lovely little pair and tbh 52mm pretty much dropped off the radar after this era.
I think you’ll have to get yourself a 58mm pair, I may even have a pair if you’re interested ;)

So, RB2, is much rarer in DGM and much lighter, i’ll post some pictures shortly to show the two. It’s only really possible to see in decent pictures with white background etc.
RB1, don’t really exist tbh! All the early models have RB2 lenses, even the AN6531 military issue ones. It makes the year very difficult to pinpoint, but yes i’d say mid to late 40s.
Thanks again, I might consider picking up a frame sometime otherwise I’d have to switch to contacts, I’ve a couple pairs of cartier I’m fond of now in fact both are due for new lenses, hmmm have to think about it as the ray-bans were very comfortable and lite compared to the Cartier frames, the ones I’m giving my daughter I at first thought were plastic.

I tried to duplicate ideal light and these pics

are at two different light settings, but my attempt was weak and it’s still hard to tell I’d guess rg3 being the most likely be easier so see them side by side here.
Thanks again for the time and patience, Clark

Yeah i’d Say most likely RB3. Lovely pair, and actually a really great lens. Very enjoyable to wear.

I don't see any reply on these, though your next post leads me to think that you got your answer. I would like to know what they are. These are BOSS! Might not work with my ginormous heed, but I'd still like to know so I can do some research on them. Thanks.

Hello, I’ve recently a vintage pair and I’d love to age and value them. They have plastic “cheek” pads as well as the plastic brow pad. They have no lens etching which I understand may put them into mid-1950-70? The only branding is across the top of the bridge, “B&L Ray Ban U.S.A.”

Hello guys! I'm new here! Few days ago from my friend which collect stuff from me I got a B+L Ray Ban WD0978 VXAS which I couldn't say from which decade it is. Some people argue they are gold plated... I don't know at all (these pieces are not from my expertise). I'm glad if somebody bring me some light. Thx!

There is a 12k gold statement etched as well. Does anyone else have some insight?

That is really interesting. I've never seen a pair with pads on them and I've been collecting them for years. Wonder if those are custom or were purchased like that? I would probably date them after the 50s looking at the case design, wouldnt go that old. Also, nice find with the 12k partial filled frames, especially on a non khalichrome pair. Cant really say on price with the pads, but With nice lenses on typical ones like these they could go possibly between 120 to 200 depending on market. Great collectable glasses!

Hi everyone. Wondered if anyone could help me with these. Picked these up on facebook marketplace. I think there from the late 90's as they have the RB on the lenses in the left middle by the handles. They came with the Chromax case which threw me off a bit as I don't believe these are that style. I think the Chromax had a little lightning bolt by the Ray Ban signature on the lens.
I cant seem to find a model number on the handles but I think there is something under the plastic bits at the end but they don't want to come off.
They also came with a Chromax dust bag as well but left that at a friends.(going back for it lol)
Anyway thanks in advance.

I pretty much concur, they dont appear to be Chromax glasses although the case is. They look to be pretty much a solid pair of original aviator style glasses, dark green lenses from the look of the pictures. From the markings, you have your normal size and brand indicators, at least they are real from the looks of it! Maybe now you can find a pair of Chromax so the case wont be lonely
