No, I have not found catalogues...yet. We'll see how obsessed I can get! I would think there's a lot of demand for this information, given how popular vintage Ray-Bans have become. Maybe the original poster who started this thread has some info.. but it looks like he's been absent since 2013??
Hahaha ok !
Yes, unfortunately lot of members seem to be inactive
I’ve tried to contact some of them by private chat, but no answer...

Ended up scoring a pair of shooters from the 60s (no B&L marking) for $90. Think I got a good deal with the tarnish? Was thinking about restoring but no idea where to start. Lenses were mint so I felt $90 was fair after getting him down from $200

Those are bad ass. Well done. Is that tarnish or corrosion? Not sure how these were made but it looks like the plating is worn off. You could try some Brasso on a q-tip in one little spot to see if it makes a difference.

I'm no expert on pricing various vintage models, but they're not making any more of them and they're quite unique. Seems like a decent deal even with the corrosion - as long as they don't break in that area due to weakening.

Hi,

I was hoping your forum could help me.
I was lucky enough to stumble on 2 pairs of Signet's recently at a garage sale and purchased both.

This post is signet #1, It is marked with B&L RAYBAN on the RH Arm, on the top and bottom of the upper nose band. The nose pads have BL marked on them. The lenses has a gold Rayband (Worn) and a BL inscription marked on them. The LH arm is marked SIGNET and on the ear piece is W0386.

Are these genuine even though they are not marked B&L RAYBAN USA?

To avoid any confusion, ill post the second glasses seperate.

Hi, Im new here and I hope you guys can help me out, I just bought these vintage Ray Bans but I am worried about them being authenticate or not. From what i researched online, they are called Caravan Tru pilot, however they do have a few red flags that worries me. First there is no B&L etching on the lens, and the bottom part of the brow bar does not say anything, no measuerement or nothing, it only says "B&L Ray Ban USA" on the top part.

Hey all, new to the forum, but after getting lasik I'm finally allowing myself to really "get into" sunglasses! I've always liked Ray-Bans but never committed due to the commitment of having to use contacts.

Anyway, I've been wanting a pair of vintage ambermatics, and I saw this at a local listing...They don't specify it's ambermatic, and when I asked, they said it's too "old" to be light-sensitive (they just say it's over 30 years old), so I don't think they know much about it and may not have actually tested it in the sunlight.

These look way more orange than any kalichrome Ray-Bans, and I haven't seen any other lenses this shade of orange-ish brown without them being ambermatics— am I off-base here?

The first signs of the existence of photochromic glass are approximately from the year 1964.

Try exposing your glasses to sunlight, if they are ambermatic they will darken to brown if it is on a sunny day.

Thanks, though I did know both of those things ;) Unfortunately this is an online sale where I can’t expose it to sunlight myself. The seller said it’s not photochromic, but from videos online it seems to take multiple minutes to darken, so he may not have tried long enough (if he tried at all)
