I am a self proclaimed expert on Bausch and Lomb aka Vintage Ray Bans. I have a degree in Vintage Ray Ban Eyewear, if you need help or have a question this is the place to get answers. I also buy them if you have a pair or more you want to sell. Cheers.
Greetings!
I'm looking for some help identifying an older pair of Ray Bans. These were left at my house after some kind of party many years ago (mid 90s). I never wore them personally so have no provenance. They've just this week come out of a box from storage after 25+ years. Hoping to find some more info, model number ideally and maybe even some indication of value, if any. They're too small for me so may as well sell them. They seem to have all the proper markings of genuine B&L Ray Bans. Took some measurements in case: 47mm lens width, 20mm bridge, 43mm lens height, 140mm temple length & 119mm frame width. Non-Polarized, grey-green lens.
Any help would be appreciated.

I recently got this aviator from a secondhand market in Japan. Is there anybody here who can verify if this is a genuine one?

I have seen an item from this website with some similar placement of the markings

Attached are some images of the markings of my sunglasses

Looks like something that you’d find in Tijuana.

let me be more precise; I don’t believe it’s genuine.

Hi, thanks. That would explain why there is no info on them. However as a pair of sunglasses they are actually well made and extremely durable. Lot of effort went into all the little branding details, also. They seem to be better quality then the made in china rb3183 pair i have which have started to crack at the spot the frame stud passes through the lens. B&L made in mexico fakes i guess are better quality then genuine made in china Luxottica glasses.
Thanks again for the response.

The “made in the USA” on handle seems like it was done using an engraving tool from Hobby Lobby.

Wondering which model was used to fake them. Seem more in the style of Oakley. Again a lot of effort on the branding for a set of fakes: both arms, both sides of the bridge, both lens. Maybe they sold for an amount that made it worth while. I must say I have no idea how difficult are the branding processes. I bought them used at a value village type place for $15.00. Why fake the model, mx-2003POL? The lens are actually polarized. And, as I mentioned, they are reasonably well made. Bizarre. Would be cool if they were a prototype that never made it to market. Could explain some of the sloppy branding....????

Two possibilities: Luxxotica 1999 Ray Bans or B&L Ray Bans made for Europe. Not really common in my experience neither really valuable

They look like Ray Ban Chomax edition, but I'm not sure.

Hi musehead I have a 2 pairs of ray bans which are a bit of a mystery to me, one has no markings on the lenses but is definitely a pair of vintage Ray-Ban or B&L sunglasses. The other is a pair of vintage B&L but I can’t find any others similar so I don’t know the model. I’ve attached some photos.

thanks for your help
