They’re not authentic I’m afraid, neither the glasses or the case. Sorry.
Thanks for your response mmafia1, could you tell me the clue that they're both not authentic? A bit stonkered with the glasses as they have all the imprints (model number, made in Italy, RB etching and RB on the nose pads) for an authentic pair? I wonder who would go to all that trouble (bearing in mind I am ignorant of these things!) cheers

They’re not a very clear photo, but can assume that the stamp along the arm are poor quality, same as the etch on the right lens. The logo on the left lens is at slightly the wrong able. They also shouldn’t be RB3024 from the looks of the size.
The tag that comes with them is wrong and the case is 100% fake as they should have stitching along they top of the opening.
that, plus this model is fakes more than any other, and for some reason they include a fake Chromax case with them but don’t even attempt to make them look like a fake Chromax. Odd I know but there’s hundreds of them.

I picked up these Bausch & Lomb “Gatsby Style 5 W1521” for only $2 US. The condition is nearly perfect. What I’d like is a little more information about them so I know exactly what I have.

From what I was able to dig up just from browsing eBay and VintageSunglassesShop was that these are pretty rare but I’m not knowledgeable about the Gatsby line as a whole. Someone told me they were from the early 1970s but I’m not sure if they’re that old.VintageSunglassesShop listed these as the rare “Blonde Frost Tortoise” frame which apparently wasn’t used much other than on a Wayfarer model.

There are pairs from the B&L Gatsby line on eBay that all range between $100 and $350 USD, so I was just wondering if I have anything particularly rare or special here. I personally love the design and find them interesting compared to the typical aviator and wayfarer styles that tend to dominate.

Mmafia1 I see you are active again so I would ask your opinion. I have yellow glasses that should be Kalichrome after all. their color is light yellow not as bright yellow as I see in some photos. what is it about? Are there two types of kalichrome glasses?
Glasses are constant density with sleeping BL

Hello. My name is Stergios and I "came" from Greece. My english is poor. I was write with goo translate help unfortunately. Sorry for that. I was watching the styleforum occasionally searching for.

Today I bought (I like sunglasses) a second hand vintage Ray Ban Ambermatic sunglasses(be supposed)... But I think is fake. If they are fake, they are good quality. They are double gradient mirror, no photochromic, no b&l on nose pads and the etching on lenses they are opposite. I've heard that some original pairs had unusual engraving but what I don't like is the way it was engraved. I would like to hear your opinion too. Thank you!

Ηave they made ambermatic non-photochromic?? I also don't like so much the print on the case.

On this site I would say that it is like the one I have. Thank you again.

they look original to me. nothing is suspicious to me. ambermatic are photocromic. cover one glass and expose the other to the sun there will be a difference.

Thanks for reply. No it is not changeable. I have 2 photocromic pairs.(Uvex & Serengeti) I tried them before yesterday... Τhe woman who sold me told me that her mother had bought them from a eyewear shop around 1986. Looking for yesterday, I encountered here and there some glasses on the net like these. Ray ban manufacture NON-photochromic ambermatics really?

I can't decide whether to keep them or to return them...

Hi, can anyone give me any info on these glasses I recently came across? From my research, they appear to be Outdoorsman from the 80s, but maybe not since they are in such good condition. BL on nose pieces, lens, frame. Any idea on a value? Thanks.

Hi. In your position I would look at the known sites. Second hand eshops etc. I've seen prices for something like that 50-100$.

I just found Ray-Ban sunglasses in the garbage at the thrift store I volunteer at so I grabbed them. They do have a lot of wear on them however they seem really neat! I was just wondering what year/model these are? The only marking on these glasses is on the temple tips/earpiece.

It is hard to read the first number or letter because of the wear on it. The numbers that I see are the following: ?02.5.

Nobody knows anything about the glasses I posted a while back? Or have I missed some protocol? Sorry if I have.
