Hi Musehead

Hi Musehead,
I got hit a vintage pair of 5022’s. They are in great condition however, the right side arm is missing one of its 2 small pins that go into the hinge, then into the arm. Any chance you know where to get these little pins?

Hi there, I’m new to the group. My family and I own one of the largest and rarest collections of NOS B&L RayBans and NOS parts circa late 1940s - late 1980s. I just started to liquidate the collection last year.

Did you receive the answer and/or parts you were looking for for your Wayfarers? I may have the parts you need. Is the temple also missing its metal accent piece (or RayBan metal logo depending on the model) or is it the hinge that is damaged? Looks like you need a whole new hinge to me. See photos for some sample parts. I might be able to help.

I am a self proclaimed expert on Bausch and Lomb aka Vintage Ray Bans. I have a degree in Vintage Ray Ban Eyewear, if you need help or have a question this is the place to get answers. I also buy them if you have a pair or more you want to sell. Cheers.

Hiya I have some Outdoorsman 2 B-15 W0384 and want to sell them but I have no idea what price they're worth. They're in mint condition and have the box and case.

Wow, those are very cool. I’m not an expert by any means, but I did a little research on Ebay and similar models in good condition seem to go for at least $200. They thing different about these, and something that I’ve never seen before, is the way the leather is braided. That feature might make these very rare, and that, combined with their condition, could push the price even higher. I know there a lot of B & L collectors out there and these might be something unique that they’d love to add to their collection. Good luck!

Someone you might try contacting is BLRAYBANUK at his gmail address.
He‘s all over the internet with accounts on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, all using the same screen name. As you might guess, he’s a passionate vintage Ray Ban collector who seems to know everything about the brand.

hello can you possibly give me some info on these wayfarers. Firstly are they real if so what age would they be, (the colour is darker than my photos, they are dark green not light) The RB is etched into the lens but I cant find that model number, my thinking is if you are going to fake something it should be a like for like copy so why cant I find that number. I have included photos thanks in advance

Hello there. Again, I’m not an expert but these are sooooo fake even I feel comfortable saying so. The most easily seen problem are the hinges. Ray Ban uses a much more complicated hinge with multiple eyelets. Plus, they use little rivets to attach the hinge to the frame and arms. The other dead giveaway is the way these are painted. First of all, Ray Ban does not paint their Wayfarers. If they’re going to make them green they would just use green plastic. No painting. And these are so sloppily painted it makes it even more ridiculous. They even painted over the hinges! And you can see where they even missed spots in the area between the arm and frame (great photos, by the way). Ray Bans are a quality product where great attention is given to every little detail. So if they feel and look cheap they aren’t Ray Bans – simple as that.

Here‘s a photo showing a genuine hinge and the way it is attached

thanks for that. I had my doubts but as you mention the painted over hinges that sets my mind straight as being a blatant fake.

I've just listed these on Ebay, lets see what happens...

I bought a pair of ray bans at a goodwill yesterday. It was dollar day for green tags and they had a green tag on them. I dont know if they are real. However I believe they could be vintage? It has Ray-Ban top left lens, then BL etched on the right lens. Then the nose pieces have BL in the center of both. Also there is no writing on either "arm" of the glasses. But on the top brim part of the glasses, there is some very small writing. It says B&L Ray-Ban USA. I cant get it to focus for the camera though. I did the best I could. Let me know! Excuse the messy table, old work table.

Looks like I may have found the number, its actually under the brim part where it says B&L Ray-Ban USA. But the problem is, its so small.

Ok after straining my eyes with 2 cell phone lights, magnifying glass and my own glasses, I believe it says 62114. Or it actually might say 68114. When searching, 68114 seems like it looks like these glasses with the pinkage lens. Any ideas?

UPDATE:
Ok I looked at previous posts and saw one that had a similar description. After looking at it again, thats correct. Its not 62114, its 62[]14

I have a pair of 5022 broke in half. The lenses are great. The arms need a little work but is it even possible to fix these?

Thanks

Hi Musehead,

I have a pair of vintage Bausch and Lomb Ray Bans that I am trying to get more info on (whether they are authentic and a possible date)

I watched your How to tell if your Vintage Aviators are Real or Fake youtube video, which was very helpful.

Most of the info checks out on my vintage Ambermatics, but I had a few questions, if you don’t mind.

The shape of nose bridge, etc is all good.
Both lenses have the “BL” etching by the temple.
The Browbar top stamp says “B&L Ray-Ban USA”

Unlike your video, the Browbar base stamp says “B&L 58 [ ] 14 USA”. The video said it should say “B&L Ray Ban 58 [ ] 14”.

No markings on temples. No BL on Nose Pads.

Do these still seem to be authentic and can you possibly date them based upon that info?

Thank you sooo much for any help.
