I am a self proclaimed expert on Bausch and Lomb aka Vintage Ray Bans. I have a degree in Vintage Ray Ban Eyewear, if you need help or have a question this is the place to get answers. I also buy them if you have a pair or more you want to sell. Cheers.

Hi, I have a pair of my grandpas Ray bans and I’m trying to understand what kind of value they hold? (See attached photos)

The numbering on the inside of the frame says B&L Ray-Ban U.S.A. 51/41/10 12K GF

I was given these glasses by a friend but neither of us know if they are legitimate or not. Can anyone help please. Inside the left temple is written "1909". Inside the right is "ITALY DESIGN CE". Just the RayBan spell out on the right lens.
Fingers crossed, thanks.

I have a vintage Ray-Ban which i believe is most likely the Outdoorsman RB3030. It has a gold frame and sweat bar and the so called "cable temples" Has BL etched on both lenses and Ray-Ban in white on the front lense. Top bar it states "B&L RAY-BAN USA. Underneath top bar is states" B&L RAY-BAN 52 14

These were commonly sold in South Africa I would say in the 80s and known locally as the 'Baby Face' RayBan due to the 52 size. Was wondering if you could share some more info on these and whether it was sold in other markets. I could not find any other information regarding this particular size. Thanks Junaid

Hello,

Thank you for creating this forum. I like to know what is the best way to clean vintage ray bans, specifically vintage aviators? Also, what is your recommendation for tightening the hinges? What would you use to clean the nosepads and lenses?

I also recently purchased Ray-ban wings and not sure if they are authentic. They seem to be super light.

Hello everyone and thanks for the invite. I stumbled across what I think are an old pair of B&L vintage Ray Ban shooting glasses with a tin case. I’ll include some pictures and if anyone can elaborate on what these are and how much they’re worth. I haven’t even tried cleaning them yet sorry for the dust lol. Thanks
Eric

Hello everyone.
I have a pair of the W1513 Cats 3000 in matte black with the diamond hard coating which my ex wife purchased for me in the mid to late 90's.
They really weren't my style for my face shape and have sat for the past 20+ years in the case in my dresser.
I would rate them a 9 out of 10 with just some minor "flea bites" in the lenses. No scratches on the frame or lenses.
Missing the lens polishing cloth and original paperwork.

I have Bausch Lomb Ray Ban's from around 1990-1995 with lens shape that looks the same as in Aviators but this model has "sweat bar" and wire temples (no bullet hole), so I think they are Outdoorsman. Lenses have BL etched on both of them. There is marking 58()14, so they should be 58mm. However measuring lens width with non flexible ruler looks like it is around 55-56mm. If I measure with flexible ruler width of the lens so that ruler is curved like the lens it looks a bit larger maybe even 58mm.Anyway my lenses are pretty scratched and I was wondering if the lens size and shape is the same as new Aviators (58mm size) made my Luxxottica Italy?

I also have opportunity to buy brand new original Aviators at nice discount but I'm not sure is the size exactly the same as when trying on 58mm at the store I feel they were larger than mine but I may be wrong as I did not have them side by side. Also I was considering I could take lenses from new Aviators and fit them in my old Outdoorsman when I like to use different style but will they fit?

Thanks for answers beforehand.

Nevermind, I asked them and was told that even the shape appears the same, and there is 58mm size available on both models, the lenses are not exactly the same shape in Outdoorsman and Aviator, so not possible to mix frames and lenses between the two. Also frame sizing is different so that if Outdoorsman 58mm fits fine, it does not mean 58mm Aviators will fit the same.

I've been trying to find the value for a pair of Wayfarer Nomad W0946. I know they're "vintage" ...not sure how "vintage" they are.
