Air Boss comes with non-mirror normal G15 lenses and full mirror G31 lenses.
From your photo yours appears to be a full mirror G31 lenses,
so when you're looking for a replacement make sure you get the right one.

I bought a pair of Ray-Bans today from a flea market. BL logo etched on both lenses, Ray-Ban logo on the other lense is gold colored as are the frames. I can see BL logos on the metal parts through the plastic pieces that touch your nose. The middle arch of the frame reads "B&L RAY-BAN U.S.A.". Does that sound right? They came with a mid-brown R-B case. The frames are a bit twisted, should I just grab a pair of small pliers and try to bend it in shape?

EDIT: I think this is the same model: http://ulugtekin.com/pen/Ulugtekin ...s/Ray_Ban_Aviator_Diamond_Hard_Sunglasses.htm

[IMG][IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG]Hey, absolutely STOKED to find this thread, I've been googling like a madman to find out exactly what I've got my hands on here. My dad gave these shades to me a while back. I've looked just about everywhere online and the closest thing I could get to a model/ name for them is Bausch and Lomb Ray Ban Style C. I'm going to include some pictures, and it'd be fantastic if you or anybody could help me out! In addition, I'm very curious as to wether or not replacing the lenses would depreciate the value, or if there's any way to just fix them outright. Thanks![IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][IMG]

Quick couple questions there! Haha, I'm not too sure what the wings are, and I checked out caravans and all I'm really seeing is the more "aviator" style, gold frames and whatnot... And the weird part about the Cats models I'm trying to match mine with, most have the word "Cats" on the side, while mine say 'Ray Ban' on the outside of both temples. On the inside, left says Bausch and Lomb, and on the right inside, says 'France'. I cannot find another pair online that match up with mine exactly. Very similar, some, but not exact. It's very confusing!

Hello I have some old B&L Ambermatic Outdoorsman sunglasses on eBay if anyone is interested. I listed without international postage by mistake but if anyone is interested I am able to put individuals on an exception list to allow bidding overseas. http://r.ebay.com/Eg0NQU

I'm almost positive that they're not the Traditionals, the traditionals don't have the Ray ban logo on either side like my shades do. Ah also, I'm pretty dang sure that they're genuine, found the small BL etched into right lens. As for the material, I haven't the slightest clue.. I know that it feels like a pretty solid plastic-type material. Glossy as well

Solid and glossy is acetate...cats are nylon...trads most definitely can have the ray ban script on a plaque on the temples...I'll send a pic when I get home

The 'Ray•Ban' words are printed directly on the temples of both sides, BL logo is on both lenses, along with the Ray ban logo on right lense. The only other identifying marks are the etchings on the inside of either temple; Bausch and Lomb, and France... I'm thoroughly perplexed.

Actually, for me the caravan is the interesting pair.
When checking authenticity i always first look at the welding and the joints themselves. BL had a high standard so you can always trust the joints and the welding to be smooth and clean.
Unfortunately thats not the case for your pair. Theyre not smooth and not clean at all. the nose bridge is even positioned not well in line with the frame

Than there are the temples, the point where they go from flat to round near the hinges, that transition is to steep imo.

Than there is the engraving on the bridge. On first eye it looks ok how i dont see the dots in U.S.A. and between RAY - BAN, maybe its the quality of the picture.
The engraving under the bridge also look dodgy.

The nose pad finishing neither seems to meet BL standards.

And the BL etching in the lenses should be E3 |_ 4 loose parts, however it seems the L is just in one part on yours, however, it could be the quality of the picture.

so sorry to say, but im 99% sure theyre fake...

Hi @BrockD123 , welcome. yours are Cats 1000 with standard G15 lenses. Cats 1000 have Ray Ban on the outside of the temples. All nylon frames of BL are made in France (from the same factory as Bollé)

Replacing the lenses might be diffucult as youll need to find a pair. Or either you put Luxottica lenses in them (which would be a pity)

    enjoy

    Hello

Please can you tell me a little about these Ray Bans ? I don't know how old they are but my grandmother gave them to me a few years ago, I assume they were either my grandfathers, who was an American soldier serving in UK in the 40s or my Step Grandfather who, would have been driving during the 60s and 70s, and info and approx. value would be much appreciated. Many thanks[IMG]
