I recently acquired a pair of vintage Shell Cordovan Florsheims that I would like to learn about. I can tell they are older, but I don't know how old. If you don't know, I sell tons of vintage Florsheim Longwings in the B&S Thread, so I do have some experience with them. These, unfortunately, will not be for sale because I am keeping them. The thing that is different about them is that they are Balmorals instead of the usual clunky Blucher. They also have a canvas lining inside of them. I will post some pics after I get shoe trees in them and clean them up. They appear to be really old but better made than some of the more recent stuff. They are in near perfect condition, especially considering their apparent age (I know that doesn't make any sense).

I think that a number of old shoe brands occasionally did canvas linings instead of full leather. I prefer full leather, but I think the canvas might light cooler.

How tight the stiches on the sole will tell you how old they are, not definite decade, though. The tighter, the older. I also had a pair of shoes which have canvas lining. I showed Florsheim expert, Teacher, a couple of pics. He guessed they were made in 50s or older.
