I'm considering getting a Salvatore Ferragamo tie for our son-in-law for his 30th. It's been on display in one of our vintage stores for many months and I've obviously had my eye one it for myself. The tie has an orange background and shows a large number of different "objects" - far more than the Ferragamo ties I'm seeing in their current collection on their website, in our Saks store, etc. (usually not more than four or five before repeating). It's very vibrant and I'd say really shows a lot of attitude - perhaps a bit too much for me to wear at my age? Sort of one of these "love it or hate it" ties, like my Leonard Paris.
In any case, I haven't counted the number of different objects yet - I can probably do it today in the shop - but I'm wondering if someone knows enough about the SF history to give any indication as to the period this tie might be from. It has maybe 15 different objects in the print before they "repeat." I'll try to see the tie today and note what some of the images are; perhaps someone out there even knows the tie.
Any opinions about Ferragamo ties? I see they're typically $160 now retail. Overpriced? Silk, construction, etc. as good as others in that price range?
