The Crockett & Jones Harvards from yesterday.

And yes I do cuff the selvedge jeans a little bit. These are Gap 1969 with Kaihara denim.

The denim develops a good fade with lots of tateochi lines

Wow! Those look great! You did a great job shining them up!

Very jealous. I once found 3 pair of Crockett & Jones for $25 each. But, they were 2 1/2 sizes too small. I have wanted a pair since.

Found a seller who may be interested in a trade.

I have a pair of REALLY nice Alden 990 Shell Cordovan (plain toe Blucher) with light wear. They started out as #8, but they have aged into a really deep rich brown. BUT, they are 11.5A

I also have a pair of Alden Shell Cordovan Chukkas (with the commando sole) that are 11B. They are #8 and have darkened and mutured a little into a nice dark brown. They have light wear. In both cases the shell looks great!

I am interested in trading for a pair of Allen Edmonds "1776" (Red white and blue)
1776-2017-05-25.jpg

They have VERY light wear, but they are priced higher than the sale price 3 years ago.

AND also he has a pair of Alden Norweigan SPlit toe in a very good looking Pebble grain. THey are NEW.

SO, my question is how much $$ would be fair for me to add on top of my Alden's for a trade.

I came across a cool and useful piece of shoe ephemera this week, a Hartt shoe shine kit. Hartt Shoes, located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, was a renowned manufacturer with a history extending back to the late 1890’s. They were eventually purchased by Dack's in 1958, after which both Dack's and Hartts shoes where exclusively produced at the Fredericton factory. Church of England purchased the combined Dack's/Hartt operation in 1964.

Based on the logo, the box and brushes date between 1958 and 1968. I have never seen another one of these boxes.

Strange pair incoming

Found these. Thought they looked odd/unusual.
View attachment 1280202

Hm. Some lighter color poking through...

View attachment 1280203

Golden Harvest special makeup? Is that just polish over them or dye? I’m hoping it’s just polish. For the price I figured it’s worth a look.

I am betting they are covered in polish. I think the lighter colors would not poke through like that if they had been dyed. Looking forward to more pictures.

Hard to say without pics showing the condition but in a more common size like mine the two Alden shell pairs would probably each be worth about 350-400 maybe if they are in SF approved condition. Could be a little less on a bad day. I'd imagine your size sells for a discount given the more limited demand.

His shoes are worth less. Again in my size maybe 300 for the NSTs and 100 for the AEs. May be a bit low on both but calf alden's arent nearly as coveted as shell and the AEs are a small market because of the color. Obviously just my opinion...

If mine were a normal size, I think mine would be worth more than his two sounds like you might think it’s close to an even trade.

BUT, the sizes are difficult. I paid $199 for the Shell Chukkas. I don’t remember what I paid for the PTB.

Here are pics I took very quickly. Didn’t polish them just got out if closet.

Although not vintage, I went with brown shell MacNeils today.

View attachment 1280492
Those are amazing. In my early days of collecting vintage shoes I asked this group which of two pair of vintage shell LWBs should I sell: 93605 or MacNeils. I didn’t need both, I reasoned. I’m pretty sure it was you (and others) who made me see the light; that anyone in their right mind should keep both. I’m glad I did.

You chose wisely. Never be told that you do not need both. I have to admit I recently sold 2 pair of shell LWBs to fund some ravello boots, but that still leaves me with 7 pairs.

I thought that should be him who have to add $ on top of his two pairs. I have to admit that I'm not good at all in pricind though. So maybe that magic of shell and Alden Army stereotype are talking in me (especially when one of those pairs a shell boots).

I'm a little confused - I'd assumed that his were also in the same narrow size? I'd do some research on ebay for historical sale prices but I'd think your shoes are of higher value than his.

Both his are 11D. I THINK I can wear them because I can lace them up tight. The Alden NST is also on the narrowest Alden last.

Glad you grabbed those Clapps. They’ve been up for sale forever. I wish they were 9D. I would have grabbed them. I went back and forth with the seller some. He takes good care of his shoes so I’m sure they will be great.
