I hate @davidVC. I am now the proud (?) owner of a pair of lizard skin golf shoes from a Foot-Joy. I don’t even know whether I made a good choice. It was a low ball offer on a whim. So they’re now being shipped.

I would wear those for sure. Get them resoled to remove the spikes, assuming you don’t play golf, and you would be good to go.

I picked up these NOS blue calf FJ for my wife a couple weeks ago. I'll need to convince her that it should be a nice shoe once de-cleated and topy'ed.

The inside is padded like athletic shoes. I wonder if that makes them lower end or still a good quality construction.

The Florsheim 97606. A rare shoe for sure, much less as NOS. Not my listing, but currently on the bay. I am digging the nailed heel.

But I do play golf, and I’d be happy to wear these on the course with my knickers and argyle sweater. :p:p:p

Wingtip Wednesday... but because of @davidVC 's latest post, I had to wear my only pair of FootJoy sharkskin saddle shoes instead.

I picked these up earlier this year, and they took the scenic route via Texas -> Hawaii -> Tokyo because the seller would only ship within the continental US.

Can anyone help to figure out the date on these? The style is 45444R. Below that it says 1965, but I cannot make out any other lettering.

I can barely make out remnants of the FootJoy logo, but not sure if it has the hyphen or not.

The auction listing had almost no information. From the photos of the sole, I thought they were NOS, but it turns out they had just been resoled, so not sure if they originally had cleats or not.

My circa 1968 Nettleton short wing sharks finally arrived yesterday. They have been swimming in Bicks 4 and are starting to come back to life. The fit is fantastic, so I am very pleased. The tiny micro cracks on the one heel counter closed to being invisible with the Bicks application. I am going down a dangerous road with these American shoes and collectively it is all your fault!!

@davidVC is the Walter White of vintage shoes. He gets us all hooked by showing us just how much better vintage shoes are than the junk we had been buying. Then cooks up something new and awesome that ramps up the addiction. Love that guy...

Wow. Try Saphir reptan. It works incredibly well on exotics... better than Bick 4 imho.

Updates on a couple of recent thrift finds, cleaned up. Gravati MI Italy for Wilkes Bashford NSTs.

I used saddle soap, then some ancient Propert's boot cream from a shoeshine box I thrifted last summer.

It was sitting next to a pair of Edward Green PTBs.
I think my son will like these a lot, and the low maintenance lug sole will last forever.
Next, these Brooks English by Cheaney semi-brogues from Saturday morning.

The right shoe needed some sanding on the toe, so I started with 220 grit, then 400 and smoothed it with the 3000 cloth at the end.
View attachment 1259162
Then finished with lots of layers of shoe cream and just a little wax. Final buffing was with some panty hose that my wife had tossed out.

I gotta start thrifting in the Bay Area where people dump off their Edward Green’s at the m.f.-ing Goodwill!

Only $571, but they are vintage...
I have been selling mine way too cheaply.
This guy is funny, he marks all of his shoes at $571. must be his lucky number.

Edit: he marks the style as "Athletic Sneakers"

Everything sold from Japan is doubled and even tripled the price.

Might be why he has over 6,400 active listings and only 5 things sold in the last 3 months.

Sometimes. Gotta kiss a lotta frogs too, though. Like with those Red Wings. I found one, then had to move a mountain of miscellaneous clothes and crappy shoes in a dump bin to find the other. Anyway, they've embarked on a new adventure, and are on their way to our Neighbor to the North.

You should. I found a Tesla in the dumpster across the street. I passed. It had a few scratches. That's how it goes out here...

I was in London a week ago and took the opportunity to pick up these Barker versions of the George Cleverly slip-on “austerity brogues “that were designed for Churchill during the war. Elastic sides and faux lacing. Not vintage but historical in concept

Meanwhile,to maintain the vintage cred of the post, the shoes that accompanied me on the trip were my always reliable Hanover burg shell LWB’s
