UPDATE: In my quest to figure out how to generate a glycerine bath that can be stored in a 5 gallon bucket and used repeatedly, I just sent an email off to the Smithsonian's "Museum Conservation Institute" with a link to the Texas A&M's recipe for the purported Smithsonian glycerine treatment along with some specific questions.

My biggest issue is still on the antimicrobial additive. If the 37% formaldehyde that is readily available on Amazon is sufficient, then I may be getting close to the test run. My preference -- for perhaps no other reason than the cool name -- would be to use Dowicide, but sourcing that is a bit more difficult. (Most of the science chemical cos want me to buy way more than I want to, and it's not cheap.)
I read somewhere in my googling around that glycerine goes bad shortly after being opened. Have you explored that issue?

Hit the bins at lunch. The usual... Buying **** only I care about. Haha!

Some mid 70s Dexter mountaineering boots for $5. They're actually collectable and these have low wear... But some jackass must have tried to waterproof them with non suede specific stuff... Because now the suede is shiny and a little sticky. I assume there's no fixing that at this point?

Or go for broke and hit them sand paper and steel wool to try and fluff the suede?

I will take it up with the Smithsonian when they reply (he says optimistically).

@suitforcourt 9eee AE shell Dundee. All you.

Amazing price. Not sure chukkas fit into my wardrobe. I'd rather buy another pair of shell shoes.

Or shell Daltons. Or shell Indy's.

If only those were half a size larger. I’d buy them in a heartbeat :(

Having to work on a Saturday, but at least I feel better with my 93605s on. The M to F work week ended on Friday, so I didn’t feel a need to keep up with my self-imposed “black shoe week” theme.

Those are a good deal and I would probably buy them if they were my size. However, just FYI that they are likely seconds and somebody messed with the mark on the soles. That's not cool, in my view... that said, they're pretty inexpensive for a nice shoe.
