@thomas199023 thank you for the heads up on the 93605 on ebay. I am surprised I had not found them. I have a search saved for 11-11.5 Florsheim. Anyway, a hat tip to you Sir. 11.5B is hard to find even more so if its Shell Cordovan. They look like they are going to need a little work. Certainly new soles and heels. But, for $50 in my size, I am thrilled.

I increased my bid three times as I have been the victim of last second bidding. It turns out, I did not need to increase my bid!

Florsheim 93606’s arrived yesterday. $99 on the Bay. View attachment 1042911
All I’ve used on them so far: View attachment 1042912
I think this is already one of my favorite pairs of shoes. Comfort and style and no breaking-in required.

Does anyone else label their brushes? I have the following:

2 for dirty brushing.

1 of each: black, brown, oxblood/burgundy, and cherry. I have other brushes scattered at my 2 offices.

Use a snipe system. It has worked for me.

Glad you managed to get them! Don’t forget to post when they arrive, and after you’re done with them :)!

Two things:

Anybody want these for cheap (my cost plus shipping)?

I paid half off $9.48 -- $4.74. Shipping is $12.85. So, lets call it $15 and that means they would qualify for the next challenge.

They are 8E. Not sure of the brand. But, they are made in the USA. Maybe Mason? The line on the bottom of the sole is not a half sole replacement. The leather is not stiff. Heel counters feel solid. Leather is probably a little dry. Insole is worn enough that I can't see any sort of label.

If nobody wants them, no problem I will donate to local thrift store which supports a community theatre.

Second thing:

Here are the Bally Loafers I have with the sole coming off.

The markings look like B Mason to me. Same with soles.

Wish they were 8.5 3e.

I am really wondering is there was a colored top coat that was easily disolved and I still have a clear synthetic layer to get through. Shoe work was not in the schedule for this evening but chemical poisoning may be a good alternative to watching my wife's Cubs lose again.
Go for it ‘Noob-I’ll be glad to help watch your wife’s Cubs lose again!:lurk:

In the spirit of this thread, you could look for a vintage tux!

We were on a family reunion cruise a few weeks ago, with 2 formal nights. One black tie set up I got was an Ermenegildo Zegna made in Switzerland around 1990. Wool and mohair blend, very nice quality for only $50 from eBay. I could have gotten away with simply adjusting the sleeve and pant lengths, but had the jacket taken in a bit and that bumped up the alteration cost... but all in, I was at $300 for a very nice dinner suit I can wear for years to come.

Shoes are probably close to vintage Brooks Brothers patent leather oxfords, probably made by Crockett and Jones. Also from eBay for under $70, fit well, and are actually very comfortable to wear all night.

+1—I agree with the vintage tux route, you never have to rent again and it will be made really well from a time when standards were higher. Have it perfectly tailored and it’s still a bargain.

I bought this wool shawl lapel 1960’s Tux from a thrift 20 years ago and had it tailored-this was last New Years Eve paired with the 1963 AE Polos(later the Belgium) not patents but a cool looking shoe with a tux of a similar age

Am I the only one without a tuxedo? That is a great looking combination.

Florsheim 93644 today as I wait in my Dr’s Office. These are fast becoming some of my favorite shoes. Gloriously comfortable with a solid double sole. They are 1 size large, but a pedag insert makes them fit perfectly. I could wear these for days. CG, but very soft. The best $6 I may have ever spent.

I find the cheaper the price, the more satisfying the shoe.

This group defies the theory of ostentatious goods (if that theory still exists as I learned about it in grade 12 economics in 1998).

Nice score for $6!

Sorry to quote myself, but doing so for continuity about my work on this pair. I went after the gritty areas in the creases on the vamps on my new (to me) Florsheim 93606 PTB's with Bick 4 and a soft toothbrush heated up with hot water. Lots of brushing and wiping got most of the roughness out. Then it was time to go after the residual bits and some superficial scratches with ultra fine grit sandpaper kept wet with Bick 4. Then AE Cordovan Cream, some brushing and buffing and I'm pretty happy with the results. All products used shown here.
