Does anyone know about this brand (Barrister) ? They look very solid and appear to be well built. Pretty sure it's American made.

First day of Sartorial Summer. Time to break out the linen, seersucker, bucks, and spectators! These Orleans are on the 1 last which is a great fit in my Bradley and Leeds. These gap a little on left ankle. I don’t know if that’s due to the buck or sole or what? I do have a slight width difference. That’s the way it goes. Enjoy the day.

Grommets look particularly good on this pair. Looks like standard, original equipment, not after-market modification.
I had some down time today and finally got around to tackling a quick project I'd been wanting to do for months.

These Florsheims, made in Canada by John McHale, were my very first pair of LWBs that @kilowatts helped me to pick up from a local sale. I still wear them all the time, and had been wanting to put on antique brass grommets to better reinforce the eyelets.

Last photo before the project:

For anyone who hasn't tried this project, it's really quite simple. I just used a pair of wire cutters to snip and pull out the old grommets from the underside, then it's a simple matter of tapping the new grommets into place.

I love the look of the antique brass grommets. New laces and these are ready for many more years of wear. Well, as soon as I get the heels replaced. That's a job for my cobbler, though. I'm not ready to attempt that project myself. :p

Question on vintage Alden sizing: Would a C/E shoe be the combination last where C is the heel, E is the forefoot, or is it the other way around and it has a gigantically wide heel, but a forefoot that is narrow?

Hole in double leather florsheims. Can I get a toppy for this?

Just double posting here: Is this the type of issue, with a double leather sole, that can be fixed - or patched, as it were - with a toppy? I haven't worn these shoes nearly enough to get this bad of wear, so I am thinking perhaps the shoes (given they were basically NOS) had dried out a lot on the sole and I should have taken more care, but I'd prefer not to have to go get them resoled as money is tight given current economic conditions.

I just picked these up because I couldn't pass up making this the oldest shoe I owned with a date of 1944. (talk about the original AE Overlord!- that's what it reminded me of)
Can anyone tell me about Newport Shoe Manufacturing Corp.? thanks
