Yesterday's vintage violation. AE Leeds in black shell. I call these my "Tiger" shoes, as my high school mascot was the Tigers and our school colors were black and gold. (In typical unimaginative Nebraska style, the annual yearbook was titled "The Black and Gold" too. I shouldn't have been surprised by that as they letter the streets and number the lakes there, too.)

Post clean up of the 97626s that arrived. Pictures just do not capture the patina on these.

Florsheim NSTs. These were dyed, and got JR soles, toe taps, insoles, welts, and French binding.

Sharkskin Florsheim Imperial for this busy Tuesday. These suckers are beat to hell. I'm not sure if they're good candidates for recrafting or not.

And a 1968 Bulova Accutron to round things out.

If you like the shoes, and there are no rips or tears in the uppers, then they're worth the rebuild. You will keep them forever.

Damn! Both of those look amazing! The SharkSkin will last forever. I would think they would be a great candidate for resto.

Here’s a Mystery for you all.

Black Shell Cordovan for Wingtip Wednesday. I don’t wear these often enough and I need to show them some love and conditioning. I believe these are from the 1950’s. The heels do not have the ultra high number of nails like a Florsheim. I don’t recognize the numbering scheme. They were clearly very high quality. The stitches per inch is incredible. I should probably have them recrafted as the heels are starting to flake apart. The lining and insole is not cracked which is surprising.

EDIT: I guess they could be Florsheim with the S code and 4 digit. BUT, I don’t remember Florsheim ever doing the size this way.

The four digit number, the style of the letter 'F' and heelpad indicate Alden to me, but I'm not sure. Really nice looking shoes though.

Hmmm. I had not considered that. I have seen that odd F before. I couldn’t tell if it was an odd F or an odd 7.

Can you make out any of the words in the heel pad area? Looks like there's a word beginning with an "E"? England?
