Well, @kilowatts found some Crane horsehide boots and, sadly for him, they did not fit in a way that made him want to keep them. I stepped up as I am always looking for something old/new and they arrived today. The original laces were a bit off for me, so I switched them out for some Guarded Goods laces. These are horsehide boots and GYW on a neocork sole used by Alden in some styles. The front half of the sole is double stitched to the welt, so it is not likely that they are going anywhere for a while. I see no sign of wear, so they appear to be NOS. I have no knowledge of the Crane company and any information would be welcome. Interweb searches has not turned up anything useful. "Is there an archeologist in the house?"

Im not too familiar with the difference between horsehide and Shell Cordovan. Although, I did just google it and learned a little. From the looks of those, I would say they are amazing and would make great apocalypse wear if you ever need them! :)

Seriously, they look super durable and tough. Great color too. I have seen horsehide motorcycle jackets before and they develop a super interesting patina.

1981 AE Warton. These were as near-NOS as you can get with shoes that were actually used. Probably worn outside once or twice before I acquired them.

They used to be my high water mark for vintage shoes ($150) until the alligator Florsheims popped up a couple weeks ago.

Gents: any info or perspective would be appreciated. My bias is that I tend to jump because 10eee comes up infrequently…Oddly enough, I do not currently own PTBs.

Thank you :)

Bumping my question here. Seller sent me an offer for $100. Yay or nay? Thanks, gents.

Check out these US Army boots from WWII. My bro in laws mother was a nurse stationed in Europe. (She died in 2015 at 95 years old ) My sister was just asking me how to take care of them. 6.5B. Pretty sure the didn’t have a ‘women’s shoe Dept ‘

I don’t know about that specific brand, but they look like a decent shoe and the price is not bad. I would get them. In the worst case scenario, you receive them, hate them and then return them as he allows that for a 30 day Period.

I just got these and while they might not be a GRAIL for everyone, I have been looking for a NOS pair for a long time. This style was not nearly as popular as others, it did sell well. Because the style can worn with so many things most of them that I have found were well worn or worn out. Finding a new old stock pair of 93606 has been a challenge.

Every time I find a new pair of these I’m amazed how great they are. These are from 1976 or 1986. I’m leaning toward 86 because of the nail pattern on the heel. It’s amazing to see 35-45 year old Shell Cordovan in spectacular condition

Also wearing some fun socks from AE clearance sale.

You cannot go wrong with that model-as with the Yuma, the long smooth vamp is such a beautiful way to enjoy the shell. Wear them in good health!

In the interest of acquiring vintage shoes made in Wisconsin,I just picked up these Freeman Bootmakers Guild long wings made in Beloit,Wis. It appears that they are made from Corfam™️,a synthetic “Space Age” faux leather developed by DuPont in the late 60’s(an article on it is featured in @davidVC ‘s site). Freeman was among several companies that made shoes from the material which, though plastic, actually “breathes” and is maintained by wiping with a damp cloth. DuPont spent a fortune in R&D and anticipated great things for Corfam, therefore instead of a cheap plastic shoe, they are well made with v-cleats,leather welts, double soles etc. Unlike the fake shell look of new corrected grain shoes, they don’t have a coating that cracks with wear.
