I have a very similar pair of nettletons. I will edit this post with a couple of quick pics taken from similar angles for comparison purposes just so we have the grain PTB trifecta. :)

Here goes...

-Last shape is, unsurprisingly, a bit more chunky than Florsheim and Hanover.
-Grain seems maybe closer to @smfdoc Florsheim pair with somewhat less texture than the Hanvoer.
-Quarter construction is similar to the Florsheim
-Welt SPI seems similar to the Havover. Upper SPI, not certain. Seems tough to tell to me how they line up tbh. All 3 seem good. The upper stitching on the Nettleton shows less overall than the other 2 pairs but I think that's intentional for all of the pairs.

Seems like it's hard to go wrong here with any of them and they are each solid choices in their own right. I think I have the strongest preference for the leather texture of the Hanover and I also like the stitching style on the quarters somewhat more than the Florsheim / Nettleton style.

Church’s Cotswold in Ranch Oxhide. According to a post on the SF Church’s Appreciation thread, they are likely late-1950s to mid-1960s. I had the heel replaced as the rubber on the original heels had hardened to the point of being like hard plastic. But I asked the cobbler to try to replicate the nail work, so they still have that vintage feel.

The world is so upside down now. I had to get ready for an early zoom while working from home. So, I wore my house shoes. THEN, when I had to run an errand that’s when I put on “work” shoes.

Presenting NOS 1983 Florsheim 93605 AND some fun socks from “John’s Crazy Socks.”

Please avert your eyes if you are easily triggered.

it has been some time for me away from this thread.
I wish everyone the healthiest and happiest of New Years!

below is part of a haul that I made from a local basement flood in the neighborhood. The one on the left is how they came out of the depths.
The one on the right is on its way to recovery. Both are Florsheim Imperial shell.
Free was a good price for all of them.

I guess I haven't worn these Alden in a while. Dug them out for Jim Pietryka, who i believe was also a member of this board.

It makes me wonder how many fine pairs of vintage shell shoes end up getting tossed because people mistake the bloom for mold.

What do you wear with these?
I think you can wear anything that goes with a dress shoe. The button up isn't going to change that, in my opinion.
