Reminds me of a Vass heel and a Mezlan toe, though not structured enough. Could be custom, maybe Italian. I see mostly rounded last shoes on this thread, not stuff like this.

Thank you for your comment. I wasn't sure what thread to put this in. I'm willing to do all the legwork, I just don't know the names of the dressier shoemakers (my collection is Guidi, m_moria, Layer-0, etc) so just a couple of names to Google has helped already.

Cross-posting from the C&J appreciation thread - can anyone help to date this pair of C&J? I picked them up as NOS on eBay.

They are water bison, and feature the old C&J logo on the footbed, but damned if I can find any info on when they stopped using that font. Model numbers are on the third image if that helps anybody.

I confess I rather like them - the fit is noticeably slim compared to a modern Handgrade model in the same size, and while I don't buy a lot of exotic leather it does have a certain charm.

Incidentally - any tips on caring for bison? I was thinking just Saphir Renovateur if they are looking dry and a vigorous buffing?

Hey gang,

First time posting over here. I’m usually on the SW&D side of things. But I’m looking for a little help Id’ing these double monks. The wearer is Page McConnell, keyboardist for the band, Phish. I run a fashion-appreciation thread, and these shoes have been a major point of interest. I figured if anybody would know . . .

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

These are actually a boot rather than a shoe. These are modern, not vintage. Low quality shoes (doesn't mean cheap however) judging off of the construction, leather, and the synthetic heel base designed to look like a stacked heel. Not sure if that helps you on your journey.

This probably isn't very helpful, but I've always attributed C&J shoes with these particular logos to the 1970s. I've had a few pairs and I base that age estimate off of "feel" and the style, nothing concrete like catalogs or date codes.

Just for sake of closure. I’m thinking these MTO Rangoli’s may be kock-offs, as they are only $179, but I don’t know. The guy is the more frugal of the group in general. I won’t bug you guys again, but thanks so much to @vestbash for pointing me in the boots direction. Cheers.

That's definitely the boot. No idea on the validity of the website or if that is actually their product picture.

If a brother here can pull them off, then so can you.
You, sir, are a bad influence ?
It’s not like it takes much to lead me astray! Just got these Executive Imperials in the mail last night. Really light wear on the heels and soles, but some fine cracking in the uppers that I couldn’t see in the pictures. My jar of Renovateur is already on my desk for work on some AEs I picked up a few weeks ago, so no worries. For $20 plus shipping, well worth a test run!

Mystery black LWB vcleats that were private-labeled for Griffin’s Shoes in North Carolina. Interesting details…a ventilated lining in the forefoot and a full wraparound heel lining
