Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

Some advice wax on. Some wax off. I preferred leaving it naturally until hand-plucking individual hair… Ostrich is a tricky leather to process. In fact, the feather density was maddening to the point of inspirational for what is now called the Brazilian technique… That is something I just made up.
Presenting 40s (and possibly early 50s) Edwin Clapp ostrich venti. The shoes were hand lasted, and hand stained. The color is quite vibrant up close with hint of inconsistency. It was ordered for a retail in TX. Ostrich was not a popular shoe leather until the 70s and 80s. It is rare, indeed, to see ostrich on a 40s non-cowboy-boots footwear. I’m putting EC next to my 40s Nunn Bush for comparison.
PS: almost all of my vintage came from refreshing vcleat page every couple hours. Passion is contagious.

Three small salmon on the Kouch. Will try for sea bass before dawn if we are sober enough. Not looking good right now. Had a big feed of sea bass today for lunch.

John McHale for Florsheim gunboats. Us Canadians really love the gunboats. The double leather soles have been reinforced with crespino sole protectors and cat paw heels.

I continue to be perplexed by these shoes. I really like them, but they don’t quite fit. Florsheim NST in 12B.

If they were a 13A, 12.5B or 12C, they would probably work. If anyone here is interested, message me. Otherwise, I think I’ll go medieval on them and try to stretch them out.

Most of Stetson NST are exotic. I haven’t seen a 7-eyelet Stetson NST often. They have original soles, but the heels were replaced. Maybe that’s why they didn’t make David’s watchlist. The flat laces were torn, so I’m mixing it up with new grey laces. I think they are more likely from the 60s, but could be 50s. Personally, I love black shoes. They are incredibly versatile. Extra awesome when they are rare vintage ?

AE Capri brown Tegu lizard April 10th 1979. By 1981, it's changed name to Clayton. They are narrow 11.5 A, but in NOS condition, in case you are interested. Not my listing.
