Just reporting the facts. They were $10 but it was half price day. I got to the counter and I didn't have cash but gal at the counter said ' you can use our ATM'. I said, 'how much will that cost me?' Then the owner came out and asked where I lived. (about 90 minutes away) She said 'just just bring the money next time'. I told her I'd be back in three weeks.
I didn't do a good job telling the story. I'm really trying to get across how totally random the whole thing was. My apologies.

Now, I really try to avoid any kind of Vintage Violation when I'm on here, but in this case I have to give credit where credit is due. These Florsheim Comfortech tennis shoes are super comfortable, like walking on a cloud. Semi-vintage, I guess; out of production, anyway.

But then I found a pair of Belmont in sharkskin in my size. Plus the seller offered 26% off. These are vintage and not easy to find.

They've been resoled and look to be in decent condition.

What are spousal customs import fees these days?

Customs is still decent. 13% (usual sales tax for my province) given they still qualify as made in USA.

But current AEs do not qualify as "made in USA." A member in the FB group ran into this issue. Too much of the current pairs have work done upfront in Dominican Republic. So "assembled in USA" more appropriate. But that means 13% sales tax, likely 30%+ for import and duty.

A few months back I found an old pair of 93602 Florsheims that I stripped, dyed and had resoled to approximate a pair of Golden Harvest shoes. Since then, I have been searching for another pair in my size for the next dye project. This means Ebay browsing 3-4 times per day. This can go on for years or you can suddenly luck out and find what you were looking for. Sure enough, some guy posted a pair and said, "Purchased from the estate of an elderly gentleman who had a plethora of nice things from around the world." I guess it was meant to be, as they were less than the new pair of AE Broadstreet spectators I was thinking of getting. I would rather have these. More photos later when I decide what to do with them. If you think visiting Ebay 3-4 times per day is excessive, I can report that this pair had been listed for just over an hour when I found them.
