Vintage violation.

Broke out the black shell MacNeils and the black Hugo Boss suit today. We finally held the memorial service for my father, who passed from COVID in February.

We had been waiting for my 13-year-old son to be fully vaccinated before traveling back to the Midwest. The only family members not vaccinated were the 10 great grandchildren under 10 years old. It truly is a miracle of modern science.

My deepest condolences; certainly no vintage violation given the circumstances. The shoes are beautiful yet somber, befitting such an occasion.

So sorry for your loss. Very difficult losing a parent. COVID took far too many loved ones in the last 18 months.

This is extremely cool. One of you guys should buy this for sure. I have WAY too many tchotchkes as it is but this would be a cool piece for a shoe room. Very cool.

Overnight trip with my wife and our dog to get away from the city. I brought my Grenson gazelle skin PTDs because they are roomy and still comfortable after a long day of moving around, and they have rubber half soles so I don’t have to worry about walking over grass and dirt while we are off to the mountains.

Holy sh_t, those are wild! They are the exact opposite of what I look for in a shoe, yet I think they’re fantastic.

Is that a labradoodle?

Happy fathers day, gentlemen.

Someone should buy these shell AE boots. They are a vintage violation but they are probably ~10 years old from when you could do one off MTOs with AE. I am pretty sure this model is on the 8 last. Very cool boot. Not my auction.

While I can’t disagree that it makes a cool tchotchke for a hypothetical “Shoe Room”, I’d like to point out that a room dedicated to a large collection of shoes is best classified as “almost a good idea”.

You see, good sir, many of us spend considerable effort minimizing the measurability, and perceivable size, of our “collections”. What you propose would get some of us into a heap of trouble, if the full magnificent scale of our “hobby” were to be laid bare (and that’s not mentioning the request to dedicate a full room to display all our fabulous foot wear, which I’m sure would go over like a ton of bricks).

Thus, I will have to pass on the salesman sampler ceramic shoe, as I need that money for better shelving and storage, lest I take over a third closet. If that were to happen, it might lead to me and my shoes having an entire residence to ourselves.

On second thought, maybe I do want that vintage Florsheim Salesman Sampler thingie, just in case.

Vintage violation: MTO brown shell AE Dundee. Grabbed these off of Grailed. Easily the youngest pair I own. Happy Father’s Day.
