Two new arrivals today, a pair of Hartt Director's Quality cap-toes from the late 60's as well as the pair of John McHale Custom Bombers that I posted some vendor's photos of about 10 days ago. 9F and 9.5E respectively. Wonderful shoes.

So where do you store all your collection? Isn’t your birthday yesterday, May 12? That’s not the ADT passcode. Wait what?… I’ll share more pics of the Hartt soon, guys ?

wow! Wow! @Oshare get on these. @Jiqea is very good work with. I got a pair of Dack's U-wings from him. He had the patience of Mother Teresa in putting up w/ my questions and indecisiveness. He also shipped out the shoes with lightning speed. @Jiqea: if you find a pair of those McHale's in a 9D, please give me another chance...

I have been impatiently waiting for my shipment. They finally arrived!

Golden Harvest that were in good shape, but they had a cheap house leather sole that was glued on.

Wyatt and Dad replaced the sole and welts and did an antique edge and JR heels. They look fantastic!

I also had a repair done on my 1960 Shark Derby. I have only worn them once just to try them on because i was worried about the stitching coming loose and causing damage. They put JR heels on them also.

That 9.5E is calling for you @Oshare .

Figure out a way to smuggle these.

@Jiqea do you usually flip the shoes that you get? I wasn't sure if you sell these on, or if you are collecting all of these amazing shoes to build a museum of vintage shoes?

@Jiqea definitely sells, unless they're in his size.

Can anyone help me on these? They reminded me of something in the vcleat Florsheim catalog but it is not a match. They are Florsheim but no Imperial or blue logo. Date code puts latest at 1993. Any other thoughts? Thanks

You can always apply to have the probation conditions varied.

To wit:

1. No further footwear purchases unless approved by a Council composed of members of the vintage thread on Styleforum;

2. Not to possess any new footwear, with exception in condition #1;

3. To attend counseling as directed;

4. Keep the peace and be of good behaviour, especially towards _ _;

5. To surrender all credit cards or other financial instruments that can be used for online purchases, with exception in condition #1;

6. Complete 100 hours of community service and to show proof of such service;

7. Stay 100 meters away from any footwear store, that is known to you.

Probation to last 12 months.

As currently written, it’s possible that The Court of Spousel Customs will reject this proposal on the basis that clause 1 substantially compromises the enforceability of the broader agreement. As you are our “spousel customs” counsel, I’d request that you provide demonstrable evidence that such agreements have historically proven workable (e.g.referenceable precedent).

Without said reference, or further modification of the conditions of the proposed probationary agreement, there is significant risk that the agreement, as currently drafted, will lead to further ass-kickings from significant others.

Cement construction. Basically, at this point Florsheim, in an attempt to cost-cut and slim up the profile of certain models, took their standard upper construction, deleted the gemming and forming of a rib (e.g. they just fold the upper under the insole) and then cement the outsole directly the bottom of the completed upper.

I wouldn’t buy those shoes under any circumstances, as they aren’t serviceable (they aren’t welted) and the soles are already worn out, which means those shoes are essentially worn out by design.

(Yes, a good cobbler can resole just about anything, but these shoes aren’t worth the effort.)

Thanks. I was coming to the same conclusion re cement. But I had never seen them and they were $5 so I’ll wear them out the rest of the way.

Well, for 5 bucks, that’s a different matter. That said, just be aware that the insole peaking through is fiberboard, so it will wear through quickly on sidewalk and cement, so you could end up with your socks on the ground fairly quickly. You might want to just get a toppy glued on.

Initial post here, Allen Edmonds I got on the 'bay several years ago. Basically a Strand without the medallion. I tried to look up the model a while back and came up with something called the 'Argonaut' from the early '90s. Those of you with better internet sleuthing skills than I may be in a unique position to confirm, or, disconfirm that suspicion.
[Sorry for splotches from my morning glass of water ?]
