I'll double check when I get home, but I believe mine are corrected grain.
Thank you. BTW, that pair of American Gentleman, now that I've had a chance to put in new laces, do a little cleanup/conditioning and take a walk in them, I'm thinking I got a good deal at $40. They are built like tanks and will probably outlive me.

I'm very happy with mine as well. They were NOS on ebay and as I recall I paid less than $50. They took a little breaking in, the part around the outer part of my ankle is just slightly higher than on most of my shoes and was causing some pain at first, but all good now. For $40 it looks like you got a good pair of shoes.

They are definitely a solid choice and because the brand doesn't have people searching for it all the time (like Florsheim) the prices can be very reasonable. I love my pair.

If anyone wants these American Gentleman, 12D loafers, they can have them for shipping. Otherwise they will go to GW. The stitching is a little wonky. They were an unsuccessful flip. All I did was clean them. I did not have a cobbler look at them either. Just PM me if you want them.

I guess I’m going to need a bigger boat. Just received these Allen Edmonds Shark Grayson.

I have several pairs of Shark (probably too many), but I couldn’t pass these up. I have seen other AE Shark. But, I had never seen Shark Graysons!

It really pays to search for shoes produced under second and third-tier brands, like these Stuart McGuires that just arrived. The vertical seam means they were made by Hanover.

They have a distinctive cognac color that's different from any other shell I own.

In glorious 13D, though the listing was confusing with 12 in the description and saying there were no visible size markings.

Oh, then I have a question! I was thinking about a pair of black Craddock-Terry shoes. I couldn't tell from eBay photos: are they standard black leather, or that shiny patent leather stuff?
Here they are, American Gentleman 11D. Looks like the same medallion design as yours. They're corrected grain, but you can see how they're breaking in after 5 wears, and I walk a lot. Seems to be a decent qualilty CG.

Question for you: these fit higher than any of my other shoes around the ankle; I suppose I might need a half size bigger, or one size wider, but they fit great other than that. It's not a big problem, just has caused some rubbing that is getting better as they break in.

Oh OK, they look like regular black leather then. Thank you.
