Honestly, it doesn't look like...there is any separation, though? Like, it doesn't seem like it's a cut. It seems like a scratch.

It's not pulling apart.

Thanks, to me a scratch or scuff on shell is more like surface layer damage that can be either deer boned, brushed, or even sanded. This is deeper. I'm not 100% sure if the cut is all the way through the shell though. I don't think these shoes have been worn since the cut was done so it's more like just a clean razor cut.

I mean, just from looking at it, the cut doesn't appear to go very deep. If it was cut, it must've been cut with a scapel.

I feel like this might even be something you could fix with some renovatrice because of how clean and thin the cut is.

I get a lot emails from people asking for info on shoes or shoe pricing. Yesterday I received one with a really rare Florsheim model, the 93628. I had never seen one before. It was made in 64 and 65. Unusual style. I can't imagine it sold well.

Thanks, interesting idea. I was thinking about some type of glue. I'll reach out to one or two cobblers for an opinion and take a closer look at the cut.

No hard and fast rule.

If the brand, model, or style is no longer made, those would qualify.

For example, all Florsheims are now made overseas. If you have a pair made in Canada or US, those are definitely vintage.
